Even on this small MMA forum he has a few haters, and plenty elsewhere too.

I know that every fighter has haters, but Pierre more than I would have thought. He seems like a nice guy, he is articulate, humble etc, and he's also one of the best MMA fighters in the world, P4P.

Personally, I don't warm to him as much as I do some of my favourite fighters, he doesn't have a huge amount of charisma, and also he is not quite ferocious and vicious enough for me, but I like him as a fighter though, he is incredible. He's up there with Silva.

So for example - RJ, TFK etc - why the hate?

The Thing w/GSP is that he's VERY BLUNT, BRUTALLY HONEST...But that Go's BOTH Ways...

After his Loss to Hughes, GSP CANDIDLY Admitted that he was Waaaaay Toooooo RESPECTFUL of Hughes Cause he was Fighting His "Idol"...How Many Fighters EVER Admit Shit like that???:dunno: ...

Nonetheless, GSP Did , Said he was OVER his ManCrush of Hughes, GUARANTEED he'd Whip his Ass N the RE & Did JUST That...Then REPEATED the Dismantling...

After Losing to Serra, GSP Cited 1,001 Reasons WHY he Lost...It SOUNDED like "Excuses", but 1nce Again, GSP Made it CLEAR what he was Gonna Do N the RE w/Serra & he Proceeded to do JUST That...

Since English ISN'T GSP's 1st Language, his Words Come Off as even MORE Harsh than he Probably INTENDS 4 them to B...But Oh the Hell Well...

Personally, REED Loooooooooves the Cat...He's like an MMA Version of Roy Jones...Comic Book Physique, UNGODLY Natural Talent, the VERSATILITY to Beat U SEVERAL Ways & an UNWAVERING Self Belief Bordering on (& Possibly SURPASSING) Arrogance...

REED has ALWAYS Looooooooved Athletes that TELL U What they're Gonna Do, then BACK IT UP when & Where it Counts...

REED'll Root for ARROGANCE over FALSE Modesty All day Looooooooong...If U THINK U're "The Man", why Not SAY it???...

GSP was Ferocious Last Night...He DOMINATED Matt Serra...It was like the 1st Fight NEVER Happened....

    He was Ferocious N the 2nd & 3rd Fights w/Hughes as Well...He was EXTREMELY Ferocious N his Fight w/Sherk...

    GSP's Problem is CONSISTENCY...@ his BEST, there's NO Better Fighter N MMA...INCLUDING Anderson Silva, N REED's Opinion...

What's SCARY is, Dude is like 25-26...He's NOT Even as Good as he's GOING to B...

Yeah good post. He really does have comic book physique and insane natural talent. I can see the Roy comparison.

It also surprises me that he is only 5'10, he looks tall.

Although I am a striking man through and through, and I ALWAYS enjoy the standup MMA fights more than two blowjobjitsu guys going at it on the grounds - Pierre's takedowns are just incredible to watch.

So incredibly effortless, such speed and power.

Did you see the one sort of counter takedown in round 2, Serra charged him, and Pierre almost caught him in mid air and just dumped him on his arse in a MILLISECOND. Incredible.

I've never been as impressed with anyone else's takedowns, and this is going back to UFC 1 when I started watching MMA.

And you're right, he is very versatile. As versatile as Fedor I would say.

By the way, I agree with your last post. Despite the somewhat recent aberration to Serra, Pierre is a better all round fighter than Silva. Striking not QUITE as good, but the rest of his game significantly better.

    agREED...

Dude is EXPLOSIVE...There's Something "Extra" on his Takedowns...

When GSP is "Right" Mentally, he's Virtually UNSTOPPABLE...

He was AWESOME Last Night...U Could even SEE it N Serra's Face...Even HE Knew he was Fighting a DIFFERENT Guy than Before...

Are there any MMA fighters you prefer to Pierre REED?

And yup, it was apparent pretty quickly that Serra was done for. We knew, he knew it.

Serra has some fucking neck on him doesn't he? It's like a treetrunk

PERSONALITY Wise, there's Quite a Few Guys that REED Prefers Over GSP...Rampage, Liddell, Forrest, BJ, Serra, Joe Daddy, Anthony Johnson, Matt Hamill, Mac Danzig, Ben Saunders, Wanderlai & Plenty Others...

But N Terms of WATCHING a Guy Fight, No MMAist has IMPRESSED REED to the Degree that GSP has...When he's "Right", it's Almost like ART...GSP was BORN to Do what he's Doing...

A Person that Knows NATHAN about MMA Could Watch a Vintage GSP Fight & IMMEDIATELY B Impressed...REED has a Year's Worth of MMA Under his Belt & Only Anderson Silva has Approached GSP...

He has the potential to be the greatest MMA fighter ever but he has to be more consistent. The good news is is that he's with a real mma camp(Team Jackson I think) and that alone will keep him focused.

Back to the subject of the thread.I don't see the reason for the hate either, maybe because he's a foreigner? Most of the UFC fanbase are rednecks anyway.

guy got caught by one of the best ever in a last second armbar, and got knocked out in a one in one hundred occurrence, and we're talking about him not being consistent enough???

Who, other than maybe Fedor was better than GSP in this point in their career?

REED Bets it was a Great Environment...N Hindsight, Having the Fight N Canada was DEATH SENTENCE for Serra:lol: ...

GSP's BUILD,TALENT & ARROGANCE Reminds REED of Roy Jones, but he's Got that DeLaESQUE Crossover Appeal w/the Ladies...

REED was N a Sports Bar as Well Last Night & EVERY Chick N the Place was Rooting for GSP...& the Chicks that Knew NATHAN about MMA were Asking "Who's that Guy???"....

Roy Jones had a much cooler arrogance about him. GSP reminds me more of De la Hoya and just tells people what they want to hear.

:dunno: I think we'll get a clear cut answer to that soon, as it looks like a fight at a catchweight will happen within the year....

I think anything Georges can do, Anderson can counter....I dont think GSP would want to stand with Anderson, and once Georges gets Anderson down, I think Silva would have a chance to submit him

yeah, Silva is on a tear right now. I'd pick him as well. ALTHOUGH, I cant get that image of Lutter pounding his head into the mat and being a few more punches away from a stoppage win. Would be a GREAT matchup though. :cheer:

Really? If that's the case, how come the UFC attracted the biggest audience EVER and it just so happens GSP was the main event. All this on Canadian soil. Coincidence?
