Alot of people seem to think that the old Roy is back after seeing him dominate Tito.

    RIDICULOUS!

This is TITO, a former Welterweight who was already dominated by both Winkey and Bernard at lower weights!

Jones needs to stay far far away from someone like Calzaghe. He'll get stopped.

The Pre-Tarver Jones...wins easily. Jones of today?

Stopped in 9 rounds or less!

I want them to both go away now to be honest,.. I've had enough of old fighters jostling for top positions, it's sort of sad, because some new talent should seriously be taking over by now..

Jones hasn't got the power to stop Calzaghe.
He may have the speed to stun and maybe even drop him, but that's it.

    Calzaghe TKO late Jones Jr

I fail to see the connection between what you wrote and your pick. He has the speed to stun him and maybe even drop him but that's it? Are you saying he needs to KO Calzaghe in order to beat him? "Twelve Rounds" Roy? No way.

    Yeah, that's it.
If he can't stop a Trinidad (20lb out of his comfort-zone) over 12 one-sided rounds then he isn't putting that much of a dent in Calzaghe.
He may get a flash knock-down due to his speed and Calzaghe getting too square-on, but that's it.

Calzaghe's too busy and Jones Jr's chin is too much like flimsy balsa-wood for it to last the distance.

What's the big deal? It's not like Jones hasn't been knocked out before.

    Mustard,

What do Tito and Joe have in common :dunno:?

What do you mean, if he can't stop Tito? If Tito fought Roy the way Calzaghe fights (coming forward, throwing non-stop), then yeah he woulda got KO'ed. Instead, he decided to play Sweet Pea Whitaker once he tasted Roy's power. Sh*t, against Hopkins his father had to stop his poor boy from consistently walking into punches. Against Jones, he played it safe and lost every round thereafter; he was happy losing a decision.

Yup. A slower, less powerful fighter did that last night.

Calzaghe's "busyness" can be effectively cut, as we also witnessed last night. Can Calzaghe KO Jones? Sure. But it won't be because of "busyness." In fact, it's his "busyness" that leads me to believe he will be the one needing rescue.

    i doubt it

roy hits alot harder than hopkins and is much sharper and faster

roy would land counter rights at will

plus calzaghe slaps like a hoe, for speed, but even then hes not as fast as jones who throws shots with speed and bad intentions

plus calzaghe will give jones plenty of opportunity to counter

hopkins KD joe with a counter right and staggered him with another

jones would have put calzaghe on his ass

No version of Jones beats Calzaghe easily. Joe is handful for any fighter.

That being said, prime Jones would probably have defeated him but now I don't see it. Jones doesn't have the reflexess to avoid getting hit nor the amazing speed in his counters which is what really made him special. Calzaghe UD

    Re-posting for clarity:

"I'm a big Roy Jones fan and to be honest, he's the only guy in the world that I really don't want to fight. He seems to be the perfect fighter and you just can't hit the guy. Look at what Jones did to Richard Hall who then fights Dariuz Michaelczweski and bashes him up for 11 rounds. I like to watch Jones fight and see his moves. He carries an aura that he takes into the ring with him. It's 100 percent confidence and he knows he's going to win. You can tell that he doesn't take his talent for granted though because he obviously trains very hard and keeps in tremendous shape."

    - Joe Calzaghe, June 28th, 2003.

Calzaghe believes he's caught Hopkins and Jones at the right time. He was right yesterday. Not so, the second time IMO.

I dont think Calzaghe stops Jones. Joe's power is decent at best and yet to see Calzaghe does against someone who is faster than him. Yes at this point IMO Jones is faster than Calzaghe by a sizeable margin.

If Joe wins it will be on activity, but I don't see a KO for him.

Prime Jones would have annihilated Calzaghe within 7 rounds.

He might stop Roy but i seriously doubt it. I know for sure there will be times in the fight where Roy Jones makes Joe look like an AM fighter. It's just too bad Roy can't fight for 12 rounds no more because Joe will likely win a decision now.

Either way i think a Calzaghe-Jones fight will be more entertaining the the bout we saw last night.

EASY fight for Calzaghe. I hope this fight gets made.

    1) There is a lot of money to be made from delusional fans who still think Roid has something left.

    2) The site of Roid laid out on the canvas confused never gets old.

Calzaghe KO's Roy if Roy tries to trade with him. If Roy plays his cat and mouse game , Calzaghe wins a decision based on being the effective aggressor who made the fight.

If Roy had any balls left, he could mincemeat Calfaggy easily. But Roy's a bitch these days and fights like one too, letting guys hit him at will on the ropes and sh*t which he doesn't have to do. Dude has far more skills than Calzaghe. If he could get into his Montell Griffin rematch mode, focus and hit with the intentions of putting Calzaghe into a coma, I'd call RJJ as the winner by knockout.
Too bad he no longer fights this way even if it looks like he can. He's more interested in entertaining folk and doing useless fancy crap in the ring.

Roy can win this fight. I'd like to see him as a heavy underdog so I could bet on him.

He does that stuff because he doesn't like to hurt his opponent. Plus he can't fight for 12 rounds no more.

Calzaghe won't stop Roy. Doesn't hit hard enough and he mostly looks to just touch an opponent with his shots.

And even now, Roy is still fast and elusive and I'm not basing it off Trinidad. In his fight with Hanshaw, Roy showed that he's still dangerous against a guy who is a bigger puncher than Calzaghe.

I think Joe would beat Roy now, but I doubt he knocks him out. Roy is more of a threat to knock Joe out IMO than what Joe is to knock Roy out.
