The BEAUTY of this Fight is that it's a NO LOSE Propostion for Roy...If he LOSES, he was SUPPOSED to...If he WINS, he Takes Calzaghe's "0" @ the HEIGHT of Joe's Career...

As for the Fight Itself, Calzaghe will Obviously look to Overwhelm Roy w/his Activity, but he'll B Presenting COUNTLESS Opportunities for a QUINTESSENTIAL Counterpuncher N the Process...

Roy hits HARDER, Throws SWIFTER & Fires More Shots than Bernard...Roy-Calzaghe will Resemble Bernard-Calzaghe N Spots, Only Joe's gonna get Him MORE FREQUENTLY by Roy...

This Fight Really Boils down to Roy's LEGS...If he's Got it N Him to Use Angles for 12 Rounds (As Opposed to LAYING on the Ropes, Covering Up when he wants a Break), Roy can SHOCK the WORLD...

REED'll Say this, it'd B ASSININE to Completely Rule Out Roy's Chances...

Roy doesn't need to use angles and run away. He just needs to hold his ground and smash Calfaggy's ribcage in and come up to the head.

Reed...you're close...but I believe Jones won't have to use his legs that much. Calzaghe won't resist taking the lead and forcing Jones' back to the ropes.

Joe C. is gonna get ate up. I'm taking all sig bets.

If the fight is signed, I'll be cheering for Roy, I like his chances better, from a stylistic point of view against Calzaghe, rather than someone like a big stalker / puncher like Mikkel Kessler.

Reed, I should add that I believe Jones would prefer to fight with his back against the ropes. He's susceptible to getting tagged in the middle of the ring when he's the aggressor. Against the ropes, he can smother Joe C. and work the body. And he's gonna surprise people with his OWN workrate.

Hopkins had the right idea, he just didn't have the activity level to sustain it. Once he slowed, it was all over. Jones will throw more...PLUS, Calzaghe will be getting tagged with much harder shots than what he took from Bernard. And they'll be coming a lot faster and far more frequently.

Hops also went to the body often--again, he had the right idea. Chris Eubank suggested this was key. And Jones is one hell of a body puncher.

Man, I just hope this goes down. At the post-fight conference for the Hanshaw bout, Jones was all about Calzaghe. And he's been that way since he returned. Like I said, I may look like an idiot but I have a VERY strong feeling about this one. I think we're going to see a very hungry Jones in the best of shape with a brilliant gameplan.

If Calz fights RJ, Joe will have beaten two fighters who'd have kicked his ass if they were prime. Theres no way I'd pick Calz over a prime Roy, nor would he have beaten the Hopkins of 6-7 years ago. He's catching these two at exactly the right time.

In Roy's case I agree. With Hopkins, I think it's possible that Calzaghe is just as deteriorated as him. Think about all the injuries Calzaghe has had in his career.

I have to disagree. Theres no way Calz woulda beaten Hopkins had they fought back in say 2001. Calzaghe was quicker, fresher back then, I'll agree... but Hopkins was WAAY better back then! Joe has slipped, but not to the extent that Hopkins has. B-Hop is a shell of the fighter that beat Tito. Hopkins back then was way quicker, sharper, and most importantly.... much more ACTIVE than the Hopkins we saw Sat night. Had they fought back then Hopkins woulda won a clear decision, or possibly even stopped Joe late. But no doubt in my mind that a prime Hopkins beats Joe.

And a prime Roy does a number of Joe! Hell I think Roy will give him trouble NOW, but I dont think he'll win. Roy simply cant sustain a consistent workrate vs an elite fighter now. He'll have spurts of brilliance where he makes Joe look foolish, he might even hurt Joe, but if he does he'll be too gun shy to go for the kill. For the most part Roy will get worked.

Hopkins really wasn't that active against Trinidad. I think Calzaghe could beat that Hopkins. IMO for Hopkins to beat Calzaghe you have to go back to him at his very best. In all honesty that wasn't that guy who beat up Trinidad. The best Hopkins I ever saw and the version that no Calzaghe could beat (IMO anyways), was when Hopkins beat up Johnson. He looked ridiculous in that fight.

We don't disagree on Calzaghe-Jones. I just think that Calzaghe was good enough to beat Hopkins in a lot of points in his career and trouble him a lot at others. He never beats a prime Jones though.

Hopkins wasn't much more active against tito than calzaghe.

In fact, Nard managed to throw more than his recent 10 punches a round against Joe. He was more active than he was against both Winky and Tarver.

And he looked sharp, he still has good footwork, and he can still pull the trigger QUICK on that right hand, and throw ity very fast :dunno: #

Didn't look like a shot fighter to me. One of the easy points to notice about a shot fighter is they can't spot opening and pull the trigger like they could. Hopkins still can. And he is still quick.

In fact, the only thing that seems to have changed about him is his workrate.

Calzaghe wouldn't have beaten prime Jones, that much is obvious.

But the Nard that beat Tito, yes I would pick Joe, because they are hardly different. Back then Calzaghe was faster too.

As they say in the states 'stop trippin'

No way in hell Roy brutally beats Joe, at best it would be competitive for a couple of rounds.

They Joe slaps the face off him.

That must have meant that Hopkins had a hard-on and it was sticking upright....cos Calzaghe hit him just below the belt.

Do you think Hopkins had a stiffy, LOK? :dunno:

If Hopkins had a hard on for Joe then its his own fault.

Anyway isn't it ironic that the dirtiest fighter around complains about a low blow and talk about making a meal out of it.

Well I guess we'll have to disagree. Cause I'd pick the Hopkins of 7 years ago over Joe w/o any hesitation. Not saying Joe wouldnt be competitive, but I think in the end Hopkins woulda beaten him clearly.

    You gotta love Hops:

If Calzaghe and Jones fight how do you see that fight playing out?

Bernard Hopkins: 'Jones might beat him now. After that whooping, every guy I fight is not the same. Case in point Jermain Taylor. Jones might be his Pavlik and I take mileage off of guys. The might win on paper but they don't win the war. They're not going to fight no Jones man. I'll bet you a lunch and dinner that they don't make that. They're going to milk him. If that fight was the same fight in London and he knocked me down and I fought the same way Joe fought, do you think Greg honestly that I would have gotten a decision?

    Probably not.

BH: "Probably not? [I]Did you see his fight with Robin Reid? I thought Robin Reid won. I said this to the media and you could hear a pin drop.Take the same fight and put it in Wales, do you think I get the decision pitty patting like he did without hitting nothing? I couldn't have gotten that decision over there in Wales. And you ain't supposed to. Not from a champion.

I'd have a lot more sympathy with Hopkins if he'd stood and fought (or at least showed a little aggression) instead of backing away all night, clinching at any and every opportunity and exaggerating non-existent groin shots.

One of the things I've always liked about Nard is his interviews, and the way he just rambles and rants on and on. The guy is funny, no doubt about it.

But he is being a sore loser in giving Joe no credit at all, and not only that, him being a bitch, trying to quit and get Joe DQ'd has really put me off him.
