I didn't skip any part. I just said the way he talks he sounds like a fucking politician. His one complaint of a guy who's calling him out to fight is that, gosh darn it, the good fellow just talks too loud? No wonder heavyweight boxing is losing it's mystique, the guy is about as threatening as the common cold.
HISTORICALLY, Reigning Champions N LOWER Weight Classes R Treated FAVORABLY when they MOVE UP a Division... For All Intents & Purposes, David Haye is UNDISPUTED @ Crusier...Considering the Heavyweight Division is Just NORTH of FECAL MATTER, it's NOT Preposterous for Wlad to Give Haye a Shot Soooooooner Rather than Later... REED
I'd disagree with that. He won a clear cut decision against an overweight heavyweight, granted, but one with good handspeed, relatively tight defense, solid technique and counter-punching ability...who basically refused to take many forward steps in the fight, so Povetkin was the one moving forward and he maintained a very high work-rate the entire fight, even though he was caught flush at times between some of his many punces as he came forward. There are areas he needs to improve on, such as trading some quantity for quality in his punch ouptut, cleaning up in defense and throwing in some head movement, but I think he'll eventually be better than current champions like Peter and Chagaev. Not sure I'd make the same claim of Haye.
As we Type, REED Gives Haye a BETTER Chance of Actually BEATING Wlad than Povetkin has... REED ISN'T Even Sure Haye Could Beat Povetkin, but Haye would Give Wlad MORE of a SCARE than Povetkin Ever Would... REED
James Toney was much more established boxing entity, and was just coming off Fight/Fighter Of The Year awards, and it took him a year and a half to get a title shot after he first moved up. He fought Holyfield, was suppoed to fight McCline (but got injured) and then Booker, before his shot at Ruiz's title...and Ruiz was just a belt-holder, not the recognized #1 in the division.
If Haye comes in aggressive, maybe he makes it interesting for a few rounds. I think Povetkin has what it takes to make it a better and tougher fight, overall. I think it could be interesting to see how the late rounds go in that fight because I think Povetkin will make Klitschko fight for three minutes of every round.
That was just an observation on Wlad's part. Where did he say "I'm not going to fight this guy, he's too loud" :: He said nothing of the sort. He said maybe they can fight when he proves himself, which is exactly what Haye should do.
That's assuming Haye doesn't get hit. Sure let chinny Haye jump right in with Wlad. I'd love to see it. He'll get slaughtered.
If the fight was made and Klitschko knocked him early out or dominated him, he would then be roundly criticized for ducking real heavyweights. He has two mandatories, both of whom he intends to fight and both of whom are far more proven in the division...but leave it to boxing fans to criticize him for it.
Yep, and one minute fans are screaming for unification and the next they are screaming for David Haye to get a shot. I'd much rather Wlad continue on fighting his mandatories and trying to unify. Let Haye work himself into the mix. He's the CW champ, so he deserves to be ranked accordingly, let him fight an eliminator at least before just giving him a shot.
Exactly. I have a hunch that when Haye steps up to face the bigger guys he won't look that astonishing anymore. Yet people still won't give the moern heavyweights any credit because theydon't look exciting
dsimon writes: riiight X, I mean Z. The kids a rookie who fights an amateur style. He has absolutely no weapons that could Cause Klitschko any problems. Whats he going to do outpoint Klitschko? :: :: The Klit is weak against a big puncher and he knows it. He fought Sam who sucks and now figures he has a free ride. Oh yeah he also beat Brewster, I giess we won't be seeing a rubber match for that one either.
Pretty sensible post. It would be foolish for Haye to try and get straight in with Wlad. I'd give him no more than a 20% chance of winning that fight if it was made tomorrow, and thats a generous quote from a big Haye fan. Haye needs to fight a stiff or two, then move up in comp. As I said earlier, I would be surprised if his power didn't carry, but he HAS to fight to see how his chin holds up against these bigger hitters. It's no good him rushing in and getting himself banged out if his chin won't hold. I mean, for fucks sake, he's only 27. It's not like he's on his last legs or anything. Even if he took 18 months to two years to make the gradual acclimatisation to the division by fighting opponents steadily rising in quality, no-one with a brain could criticize him for doing so.
dsimon writes: So let him fight one mandatory and tell the fans that he will fight a guy coming up who is a legitimate threat. This isn't like the Welter's where you have a lot of guys who are a threat waiting in line Mitchell this is a very very weak division. Haye has plenty of experience dammit!!! He used to fight bigger kids in the school yard! :: Credit where credit is due, anyone with a punch could clean the heavyweights out like Batman in the middle of his theme song!
You're assuming things I didn't say. I never said Povetkin beats Wlad and he won't, but he's done more at HW to earn a shot than Haye has. You're right Povetkin isn't beating Wlad, but neither is Haye!
dsimon writes: Fight the scrub then fight Haye! Haye is an unknown, Povatkin is a sacrificial lamb. Do it for the fucking fans. Nobody has earned shit in the heavy weight division. Toney did until he lost that second fight to Peter. Peter might have a legitimate claim, but he got beat once and that fact stands. Its not what you say dude its what you imply.... don't they teach logic in Santa Cruz? You imply that fans should just stand and watch Klitschkp against these underachievers... I call Bullshit on that. Haye has a punchers chance because of the kind of fighter he is and that fact stands.
