Erdei: I suck, please jump on a plane and knock me the fuck out. Can we collect to bribe the WBO to rank Glen Johnson #1. I´m so sick and tired of that boring bum. 118-111 DeAndrey Abron. Erdei eclipsed Terry Porter´s (14-17-1) six round performance, who also managed to beat Abron 58-56 over six rounds.
You want to bet on that. Erdei can´t take a punch, he can´t fight on the inside. Barring the worst robbery of Glen Johnson´s career, he´d waste Erdei. Erdei has fought two guys, that were considered lower top ten fighters during his whole career, in Gonzalez and Garay. The guy gives Felix Sturm and padded european records a bad rep.
Nope. He made 700000 Euros fighting a tomato can, but apparently he is under the impression, that at the current horrible $/€-exchange rate, he could earn more in America against Tarver, Jones or Hopkins, because he keeps bitchin about his purse. The crowd boo´d him afterwards; a few minutes later he was interviewed and thanked the fans for their support, unfortunately they were all gone storming to the exits.::
Well, I base it on two things. One, you mention are the Garay wins (I still rate Garay). The other is Johnson's Woods performances and I believe Erdei is better than Woods. I don't know about his ability to take a punch, but I've never seen him hurt? I'll bet. Not much, but I would bet...say in the 20 to 50 range or something like a trade or whatever. Just ask if they ever fight.
..... Erdei was pretty visibly hurt in his fight with Tito Mendoza. I have his fights with Garay just need to sit down and watch them. A lot of people thought Garay got shafted.
You´ll be shocked to hear that Lukas Konecny (more or less) beat the piss out of Sergei Dzinziruk over 12 awesome rounds. It was a lot of back and forth action, but from the full 8 rounds they showed, I gave Konecny seven as he seemed to land the harder punches in each and every round. Somebody who was there and saw the whole bout scored it 118-110 Konecny, the judges scored it 114-114, 115-113, 118-110 for Dzinziruk. What a shameful decision to deny Konecny in the performance of a lifetime.
Not that shocked after he struggled with Sebastian Lujan or whatever that guys name is. I will say I saw some footage of Konecny on youtube and thought he sucked.
Good point. I pointed this out to His Royness prior to this bout, but never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that Konecny would beat him around the ring and nail him with clean shots repeatedly. It seems Dzinziruk cannot adjust to (smaller) pressure fighters, while he´s awesome in a chess match type of fight with big guys like Santos. Konecny slaps a lot, but he´s not a bad fighter. He was beating Piccirillo easily in Italy (dropped him in the second) until he started to run out of gas in the middle rounds. Tonight he was in great shape as he went twelve hard rounds. But in the end there is still a difference between being with a big German promoter and a small German promoter. The American judge should be banned from boxing permanently. His scorecard was atrocious.
as i remember, erdei beat him clearly in the rematch. I thought it was very similar to how maske/rocchi went, with the first fight being very debatable and close and the 2nd not so much.
I hate watching Erdei plus those stupid press releases universum send out in pre-fight PR where he meets a bundesliga footballer, dresses up in a traindriver uniform at some famous railway station, pretends to be serving beer at some bier keller etc etc. and he's always smiling like he's just delighted to have found himself in this position as a protected WBO champ...as he should be...why do germans care about his boring non-german ass anyway?
I know, like this --> I've never seen anything different, he's like a cartoon flower, I havent seen him fight, nor will I ever, judging from all these comments, but ....I think he'd be smiling, the mouth guard would crinkle his lips out of shape, but he's smiling,..I bet he's smiling.
TV rating in Germany are compiled through a small audience sample, who has the appropriate boxes and my guess is 25% of these boxes are in possession of Universm employees or hungarians. Actually what Kohl does is he sells the Dzinziruk/Konecny fight to the Russian/Ukrainian/Czech market as a live event at 21.00, sells the national hero Erdei vs. TBA to Hungary at 22.00 and the stupid German network television station, who is subsidized through law blows money up Kohl´s rear end, because they have no knowledge of boxing or don´t give a F***. Basically every German fight fan is indirectly paying for these events and we can´t do anything about the quality of the fights.
Sounds like the kind of sweetheart deal warren had years ago...universum really are the pits....by the way, what happened to Blain? Split decision? How bad is he? How is Tajbert moving along? I liked him at amateur level
I liked Tajbert a lot, as well. Haven't seen much of him as a pro, but have kept up with the news/reports. He just won the EU title a couple months ago against Escalona with a razor thin UD (1-2 pt. difference on all the cards).
Yep, I saw that result and was a bit surprised that he could've struggled against such a scrub, but then I haven't seen him at all at pro l;evel yet
Blain just plain sucks. No chin, no power. He´ll get KTFO once he steps up to a top ten contender. Although I heard this decision was legit, just like Tajbert vs. Escalona. Tajbert really started out fast against Escalona, hurt him to the body in the first round, but then he seemed to remember that German and Eastern European fighters don´t dig to the body, and from that point on it was a fairly even bout. There ain´t much hope for Universum. Kraj will fight for the soon to be vacant WBC cruiserweight title. Alekseev will probably be directed toward the soon to be vacant WBO cruiserweight title. And then Kohl is trying to figure out, how he can make a fight between Jürgen Brähmer and a tomato can for the vacant WBA light-heavyweight title. I also heard rumours that Inkin has pulled out of the fight with Froch. Maybe Kohl hopes Calzaghe will vacate the WBO super-middleweight title and he can set up Inkin vs. Brähmer for that belt. See how often I used the word vacant in my assessment of Kohl´s plans. Yes a gutsy bunch at U. Always challenge the best. For years they can sit in #1 spots without enforcing their mandatory rights to fight Joe Calzaghe, but they´ll jump on every cheap opportunity like vultures.
