His opponent is Tobia Giuseppe Loriga. He is 24-0-1.

Anybody know anything about the guy he is fighting?

I have his fight vs Kapadenue (W12). I'm sure I've never watched it. Interesting that it was his 17th win and 3rd time going 12 rounds.

Looking at boxrec he is a natural jr mid with one fight at 159.5.

I suppose even more telling than his 6 round draw with a 13-11-3 guy, is the fact that of his 24 wins, only 6 ended via KO.

    I think he should Margerito..

I think we need to stop screwing around.. when a guy might be good.. throw 'em in with the best.. you know? not enough fights going on.. these guys should be fighting once a month and everyone would fight everyone right away

He was the 2004 US Olympian at jr middle, beat Andre Berto twice in the ammys.
He is fighting on the Pacquiao-Diaz undercard, a real belter trained first by Freddie Roach, now being trained by the great Ronnie Shields here in Houston.

He looked really ordinary. He dropped the Italian hard in round 2 with a right hand, but couldn't finish him. He had another kind of lull period where he didn't do a whole lot for a few rounds like in the Celaya fight. Somewhere along the way, he rolled his ankle and fell on his butt. Not too long after that he hurt the Italian and forced him to take a knee, which ultimately was the end of the fight.

Omar on the other hand, looked like shit and deserved a draw at best. You know you got a gift, when you're the son of a Mexican legend, fighting in Mexico, and get booed out of the ring.

Camacho Jr. was fat as normal. But he hurt Kenny Kost pretty good. Dropped him hard with a straight left, then had him badly hurt a round or two later with body shots...but was too fat to finish him. The Mexican crowd was booing him and cheering for Kost screaming "Black trunks, black trunks!" Because apparently they didn't know Kost's name. The fight was an 8 rounder, but Kost's team was under the impression it was a 10 rounder. After round 8, Kost's corner saw people coming into the ring and assumed Camacho quit on his stool. One dude was like "Did he fucking quit?" After the Chavez fight, Camacho got back in the ring and started lobbying for a fight with Jr. saying he wanted it to be in Puerto Rico.

    Thanks for the info.

I've only seen some Chavez Jr fights near the start of his career, a few years ago, and he didn't look much good then. Wondered if he'd improved much.

The fight will never happen because #1 They are both promoted by Top Rank and #2 Vanes is being groomed for a belt and Chavez will NEVER win a belt and Arum knows this.
Could you even imagine what a guy like Cosme Rivera would do to Chavez?

I don't get all the hate for junior.:nono: Whats wrong with learning the game slow and steady? Thats why a lot of old timers had skill and subtle things they could do in the ring to last 15 rounds.

Sorry ds, I'm just not seeing it. :dunno: He's not going to be anything like his dad. It's not gonna happen. This kid is SOFT! He's got no real warrior instinct and he's fighting nobodies. Watch what happens when he gets hit real good by a real puncher with real skill. The f*cker is dead meat.

How about Cosme Rivera, he doesnt have much amatuer experience either and would give Chavez something he has never been in, a real fight.

As much as I hate Camacho Jr, if he ever fights Chavez Jr and takes the fight serious and trains like he's supposed to I still thinkhe will box circles around Chavez Jr. But we all know this will never happen.
