I'm sure he will. He'd test Haye's chin early and if Haye can get past Briggs it's a damn good start. He's a "name" and an easy mark.

It'd be a start, not sure about a damn good one, though.

One thing with Briggs is that with his heavier weight and worse conditioning, he's actually more of a rounds/distance fighter than he used to be...which is not a good thing, aesthetically speaking.

Before, he'd come out and spend everything he had in the first few rounds or so, and most of his hand-picked opponents would fall.

That Briggs against this Haye could have been an great fight.

Depends on where it takes place.

As would Klitschko-Haye for that matter. It's not like Haye's a known commodity in the States.

I wannna see Haye/Wlad but I also wanna see Haye against other heavyweights before.

not because he has to earn anything. I mean Wlad fought Ray Austing not to long ago and what did that guy do to deserve the tittle shot?

people need to stop respecting the rankings like it's truly legit.

Haye is not just some cruiserweight coming up in weight. He is the guy who cleaned out the divison knocking fools out.

Also for the people that claim Wladimir will smoke Haye out pretty easy, where was that Destroyer Wlad against Ibragimov?:dunno:

Wlad had every advantage possible against that little dude and still didn't go for it.

No fucking shit. Nobody debates THAT school of thought.

But is he gonna be effective at that weight? What you are saying is like saying "Felix Trinidad is what the Heavyweight division needs."

The only way Haye will beat Briggs

is if he hides Brigg's asthma spray during the fight.

Well, the sleepwalk that was Klitschko-Ibragimuffin wasn't unsuspected by me.

I thought it could very well unfold like that.

But Povetkin doesn't fight like Ibragimov...as though because he has a few extra consonants in his name he must fight like everyone else with the same affliction.

Furthermore, you're putting a lot of faith in a fighter - I'm guessing - you probably haven't seen all that much of...I do know for certain you haven't seen that much of him at heavyweight, because nobody has.

I can already hear the excuses if Haye doesn't live up to what I consider your very unrealistic expectations.

Doesn´t the WBO have a rule, that a reigning champion will automatically obtain the no.1 ranking in the weight class above? I think if Haye dropped the WBO cruiserweight belt, he´d be ranked no.1 at heavyweight. Oh I have a better idea, he should fight Dimitrenko for the mandatory position. Oh yes. And we can have the same ref who did Brewster/Krasniqi, so Haye can knock him unconscious twice. Oh please. :stir: :stir:

Because of boxing politics and people running away. David Haye is basically calling Wladimir a pussy faggot to his face and Wladimir is just smiling and running away.

Haye is trying to clean up the division, but no one seems interested.

Bullshit. Many cruisers have tried it lately. James Toney and Jirov tried it. Easier said than done.

Oh come on man! Your calling me a stereotyper.... have you seen Povkin fight? He fights like an ammy. It has nothing to do with his geography, its his physiology.

I have no faith in Haye whatsoever I do respect his confidance and what he brings to the table. When did I ever say Haye would prevail? I said he had a chance becasue he is a puncher. It makes for an exciting fight. Hay also called out Vlad and while everyone was so impressed by Vlad's passive aggressive dismissal, I think Vlad is a pompous ass. He is taking fights that he can win and putting off a fight with a guy who might threaten him, him and his brother want to strangle the division. What a bunch of BS.

He's fighting mandatory challengers that were in motion long before Haye started making real noise.

Thompson was the WBO mandatory before Klitschko even won that title.

Povetkin legitimately won the tournament for that title shot.

It has nothing to do with avoiding Haye for easier fights.

Who? :dunno: Fight em both the same night and get it over with. Just a bunch of alphabet soup BS. And you know what? fine fight both guys then fight somoene with a pulse.

Sometimes you have to say screw the mandatory to make a fight with some potential entertainment value. What about the fans? Then will Klitschko fight a rematch with Austin? YOu act like Those mandatories have to be respected. Pick one scrub fight a mandatory then make a good fight that the fans want to see.

The crisis in the heavyweight division is such that with Vlad at the helm you will never have a major fight in teh division. If his brother reenters the picture and strangles the division also it will be even worse.

respect to haye - for his articulacy and confidence and just plain straight-talking. as soon as the ref waved off the macarinelli fight, it's like haye was reborn; he was immediately 100% clear about wanting klitschko. no "im not ready", no talking up bullshit opponents, no ducking the question with "let's see what my managers arrange for me" - just straight to an escalator confrontation with the no 1 target.

it's the opposite of the insidious duckers that we usually produce - naseem, slappy, hatton - who all spent years filling out bingo halls avowing "next year i'm going to america!!"

and throughout, he's been realistic - he's accepted that wlad will face 2 mandatories, and that he himself should face some hvyweights, and is just asking for a fight after that.

well done haye. this is exactly the attitude that boxers should have - honest and ambitious.

"alphabet mandatory" is basically meaningless. the bodies could come up with anybody.

im not saying he's good, or that he'd beat klitschko; im saying it's good for boxing for people to have this attitude. especially british scumbags, who can make easy money fighting paraplegics. consider audley, who preferred to fight bouncers and retired postmen.

if haye gets creamed by wlad, his money-making is over. he could do five fights against nobodies on the back of hype from british tv - but instead he's completely clear that he wants the riskiest fight out there.

Yeah I know dude - I agree he has been a breath of fresh air, I am looking for to him fighting at HW but I still cant stand the cocky cypriot and would love to see Wlad flatten him.

Yeah it's good, the british can hype the half-turk up all they like, it'll be funny when Haye goes down from a crisp jab.
