It seems like we're hitting a bit of a dry spell until June. What fights are you looking forward to prior to Margarito/Cotto?
I'm looking forward to the B.A.D. triple header most, which is two weeks from Saturday. Gamboa vs. Jimenez Angulo vs. Gutierrez Kirkland vs. Albert Hell of a card. :bears: Also looking forward to Judah-Mosley and Miranda-Abraham II. Not to mention Ponce De Leon vs. Lopez, Quintana vs. Williams II and the "liquidation" of Sergio Mora by the hands of one Vernon Forrest.
Miranda Abraham II should be decent, but for some reason I'm not even remotely interested in seeing Zab Judah fight anymore. I think the tide has finally turned for me, cause I'd been a fan of his in the sense that I enjoyed watchnig him, even against poop like Corley and Martel (if for nothing more than the headress) but now his act is tired. He has crappy conditioning, low ring intelligence, and is maybe the most skilled bust I can think of.
I was thinking the same thing, it seems like there aren't many fights that stand out until then. Berto-Rodriguez and Ponce De Leon-Lopez could be entertaining, but the fights I'm most looking forward to the must until then are probably Abraham-Mirnada II and Torres-Holt II.
Yeah, no Championship Boxing on Showtime, and HBO has just has DLH in a tune up, a prospect card which may or may not turn out to be good, and then really an unnecessary ppv with Mosley-Judah.
It's not a great period when big names such as De La Hoya, Hatton, and Pavlik are all fighting opposition that they should comfortably deal with. Of the fights that haven't been mentioned, Witter-Bradley and Guzman-Arthur are fights i look forward to, but not overly excited about
i'm looking forward to mosley-judah only because i want to see how much either guy has left in the tank.
Where do you think the winner goes from there? A rematch with Cotto, maybe an IBF title fight with Clottey, something with the WBO belt?
if cotto beats margarito in a convincing manner, i'd expect him to fight mayweather. if not, i'd expect him to move up to 154. however, i'd say he'll go through hell vs. margarito which will probably warrant a rematch. who would want to see cotto-mosley II? would anyone give mosley a chance at performing better than he did the first time around? the winner of mosley/judah will probably get a title shot, but not against floyd or cotto.
Yeah, they both say they want Cotto again or Mayweather, but I can't see any of that coming later this year. Not a lot of big paydays left at 147 outside of them. If Margarito drops the IBF belt, Clottey is supposed to fight for it...that fight might be there for the winner later this year if they want it.
