We all know that Oscar is gonna smoke this cat and it's a Bull$hit fight but is Steve gonna at least make some good cash????:dunno:

are you confusing this with the UFC?

$400,000 is quite a bit more than most UFC fighters would make for a single nights work, and Stevie is not a top level boxer. Not a bad pay day at all.

steve, right but it's comparitively little.

When was the last time an Oscar opponent made 400k or less?

You gotta admit it's fucking funny that Steve is making 5 or 6 times what Anderson Silva does, one of the best MMA fighters in the world P4P

    UFC = cunts.

Yeah, what is Stevie getting? 5%?

Exactly. So while it's a good payday for him, you have to put it in perspective given the fight. For an Oscar payday, it's not very good.

Yup. Hell, Oktay Urkal got $300,000 to fight Cotto.

It's basically an exhibition fight to keep Oscar busy.

$400K for 12 rounds of sparring aint a bad take.

 Ask Steve if it was worth it when he is looking up at the lights.

steve forbes is irrelevant. His name was picked out of a hat. He has no say in anything. 400K should be good enough for him. He can plan a smart dive and go home with his money to help pay for his kids' college tuition, or he can fight his ass off, WIN, become famous overnight....and go home with big paycheques in the future.

The only hopeless picks were those people picking De La Hoya to completely dominate and KTFO Forbes, who has never been knocked down, let alone KOed in his career, and who blocked or slipped the majority of DLH's punches with the exception of that jab.

All those bullshit flurries that Lampley was creaming about didn't even land. Forbes landed some clean shots, but unfortunately, he was just too feather fisted to really get De La Hoya's respect.

I'll admit that DLH's jab kept Stevie from working on the inside (IMO Stevie's greatest asset) and his stamina was better than I had expected, but those of you were saying that this fight would be nothing more than a glorified sparring match and a highlight reel KO need to eat your crow. :slap:

Um, no - the only stupid picks were people like you who actually thought stevie would win

Like he's ever come close to beating anyone as good as oscar, or even half as good.

To be honest I just got sick of all the people talking shit about Stevie who IMO is a very underrated fighter and a legitimate talent.

He had absolutely no business fighting at 150, yet still showed his chin can hold up at the elite level, and at spots made DLH look bad blocking and slipping his combinations. Stevie was also able to land some clean/effective punches, but he simply could not get Dela's respect.

People were expecting a Cotto/Gomezesque beatdown, but that simply did not happen. Dela controlled the fight with his jab and showed decent stamina, so I gotta give him props for that, but he did it against a severely undersized and underpowered fighter.

There's definitely a negative slant put on Stevie simply because he was on the Contender, but IMO if he can get down to 140 he can be a legitimate contender in that division. At 147 he could still be a decent gatekeeper/spoiler type, but that division is DEEP.

Stevie Forbes: I stil believe! :cheer:

Forbes made Dela Hoya look stupid in there at times and put lumps all over his face.

Forbes won at least 2-3 rounds and was about that many weight classes smaller.

Stevie is a great boxer. Believe.
