First two that popped into my head were Terrible Terry Norris and Wlad. What other elite level fighters have had horrible chins?

Yeah, Diego is definitely a good one. If only his chin matched his heart.

Or his jab even matched his chin.

Trinidad is borderline. His chin was never the best, but his recuperative powers seemed to even it out.

    Cotto at 140.

Bruce Seldon wasn't exactly McCall or Mercer in the chin department.

True, but i can't bring myself to call him a champion regardless of what trinket he picked up along the way.

Cotto has a suspect chin, but he always comes on stronger after being floored/tagged.

Hearns is at the top of list.

Don't know why but it surprises me to hear that Roger could not take a punch.

well for starters, he's been close to being KOed by pernell whitaker.

in other losses ala lockridge, pendleton and pineda, he was brutally knocked out cold by a single punch or combination.

you gotta put Lennox up there somewhere. not sure if he had a "glass" chin per say, but he didnt have the best punch resistance and nearly everyone he fought had the potential to knock him out with the right shot

A complete Urban Myth and, what is worse, it was inevitable that someone would include him in this thread, because it is a popular misconception.

Lennox got KO'd twice in his entire professional career, both times by shots that would have knocked out practically any HW you could care to name. The McCall punch hit him blind and flush as he tried to knock Oliver out early, and he was still on his feet and looking to fight at the count of eight. The Rahman punch was one of the cleanest, most powerful flush shots I have ever seen land on a boxer. Until the rematch, of course...

Lewis did not have a glass chin. Of course everyone he fought had the potential to knock him out- they were heavyweight boxers FFS!

Anyway, one HW who sprang instantly to mind was Frank Bruno, though I do struggle with describing him as a 'championship fighter'. Also, Nigel Benn seemed to get bounced around quite a bit, though McClellan, who was thought a motherfucker of a puncher, couldn't quite get him out of there... :dunno:

Amir Khan is chinny too, but I don't suppose he's a 'Championship Fighter' yet either. We'll call him a chinny future championship fighter...

Nigel Benn had one of the worst chins of all-time.

He was down once against torres and it was a push. Terrible call by the ref.

So you gotta go down to have a suspect chin?

That is a bullshit line that Lennox fans alway use. They act like the shots that knocked out Lewis were among the most brutal in boxing history. Hell, Frank Bruno survived 12 rounds with McCall. I'm quite sure McCall landed at least one big shot on Bruno's fragile chin during those 12 rounds. Hell, even an 800 year old Larry Holmes didn't fall like Humpty Dumpty when McCall hit him.

The shots by McCall and Rahman looked huge and superhuman because they crumpled Lennox Lewis. Let's not hyperbolize the punching prowess of these two journeymen who have a combined KO percentage just over 60.

Rahman's punch was good. Particularly where and how it landed. McCall? Nothing so hot. That said, Lewis wasn't KOed by McCall.

When did i say that? I just asked when was Cotto Floored.

I didn't say you did say it. I asked a question.

You kind of did when you used the words So in response to my comment. But as far as your question goes, I think each time cotto was wobbled, he was hit on the temple. Add that to the fact he was killing himself to make weight. Do i think Cotto has a suspect chin? No. Since his move to 147, he hasnt been wobbly once. And he has taken flush shots from Zab and Mosely.

If you count the WBO title, then Tommy Morrison.

    Lousy chin.

definitely at super feather....but with the extra few pounds at 135, he walked through Freitas, and it took Castillo til the 10th round to put him down in a slug fest

    Tam Tam "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I think Cotto was pretty clearly wobbled when Judah wacked him on the chin. More than once.

And the question was phrased like it was, because I assumed thats what you thought, because I read your post that way.
