I don't care how good the guy is, he needs to get his fat ass in shape.

Fat ass or not, I give Solis a far greater chance of running the tables at heavyweight than just about any other current prospect or budding contender - yes, including Povetkin. And for damn sure more than anyone America has to offer.

No freaking way in hell should a guy his size weight 250. He is only hurting his chances by fighting at such a weight.

He's the epitome of today's HW's. Fat asses.

agREED... but the boy can fight. The temptation is to say that he's the next Lawrence Clay-Bey, but hopefully the right people will start whispering in his ear (and snatch food off of his plate while doing so), and he'll come around once it's time to make his move.

Looking at the Haye fight, he was ripped, he needs to get down to the 220's at least.

yeah I agree. At least 230 (which I think was his weight, or a lot closer to it, in the Olympics)

I agree he appears to have a lot of tools and that 250 is way to heavy for someone only 6'1 or so, but he appears to actually carry it decently into the ring, though he's not fighting anybody where it could matter yet.

He's already gone James Toney on his body...hopefully someone gets this kid on a diet before too long.

I think he's very similar to Povetkin now and not the guy you see beating Haye. He's flat footed and has very, very good and accurate hands with decent pop. He's not nearly as fast as the guy fighting Haye anymore.

He looked to be in better shape recently. Arena is keeping him busy. He fights every two months all over Europe. Germany, Turkey, Italy, now Spain. He´s supposed to be on the Gamboa/Rojas ESPN2 undercard in June, too. Solis has struggled with tall guys in the pro´s. That is when the weight really hurts him, when he went the distance with Salif (most do), Long (few do) and Colliander (the walking toothpick).

Going long with Salif is probably a good thing for the guys career. There's a lot you can learn from a guy like Cisse. He's been in with the best of almot everyone.

Solis is a modern heavyweight. Training strength does not make you look good but it just might may you effective. Solis is a succesful amateur and huge athletic talent but then again, so was Jorge Luis Gonzalez who got destroyed because of his poor defensive techniques

There's a big difference. Gonzalez was a gifted amateur who never made the transition to the pros. He was basically a bully until forced to fight someone with a pulse. In fact, Solis' competition level just one year in is already on par with (if not better than) that JLG was feasting on prior to Bowe.

I'm sure it will be until 2011 before he get's a shot. It's not like he's done anything to improve his position since he got stopped in 1 by Yanqui Diaz. He is ranked #2 by the WBC behind Virchis.

    And JLG.

The Bad Hair Life is making a comeback.

Cubans will rule the division by year's end in honor of Raul Castro.

You're the guy trying to claim Gomez should be limited to his fight with yanqi diaz, ignoring what he did before and after.

So back it up. It's not like Gomez will be fighting anyone worse than Diaz.

I was just pointing it out and saying he hasn't done anything of note since. Am I wrong? What has he done since?

His wins over McCall actually aren't too bad. McCall never really looks bad and only gets beaten by real good fighters.

    But its not much else.

There's another reason he's done not much since the Diaz fight. That was a really shitty time to get caught using.
