I was just watching that John Ruiz "highlight" video. That was funny when Ruiz pulled the "pimp catching his ho" gimmick. Then he even dressed up as a pimp:: Even Roy had a hard time keeping a straight face. I think Yori Boy drinking some Aztec magic potion to help him defeat DLH was a good one too. The messageboards were talking about that even though the fight was obviously a wash. Post yours.
I like the way Cotto carries himself at the press conferences - the other guy runs his mouth and Cotto just sits there like Darth Vadar waiting to unleash the pain.
Its the same expression every time...even when he is ringside he has the same look....i think he's just like that. state of that fucking Guido... Of course, during tender moments, he has been known to change his expression....... Cotto: can we fuck later, tito??
Like him or Not, Prince Naseem had THE BEST Recurring Pre-Fight Gimmick of ANY Recent Fighter...For a Brief Time, NOBODY Captivated Boxing Audiences (Negatively or Positively) like Hamed... His Trash Talk, Followed by the GAUDY Ring Entrances, Followed by the Flip Over the Rope...Peeps Actually LOOKED FORWARD to his Ring Entrances, as Much as his Fights... & when Prince DIDN'T Flip Over the Rope for the Barrera Fight, Fans BOO'ED & Jaws DROPPED... REED
I preferred his exit against Barrera. Sodomized and beaten.........Barrera should have made take the Cross.
Who could forget the famous Holy having his dream from god that he would knock out Lummox in the 3rd round, in thier first fight. That was one of the major sub-plots of the fight.
It was.....for 3 minutes of the 3rd round. After that they went back to tit-for-tatting the rounds. My favourite gimmicks are Collins being hypnotised, Hameds comments about the link between green, the slitting of throats and the sheep skin gloves, and Tarvers immediate pre-fight gimmick about "Any Excuses, Roy"....
The flip over the rope was pretty cool, but his Halloween night entrance against the Pocket Rocket was dreadful, IMO.
I'd completely forgotten about that.:: Lewis calling him a hypocrite got one of these from me. :bears:
Anybody remember Lou Duva setting up that punching bag with shorts on it for Golota? That was classic.::
The fight turned out to be worse. Sky wanted the names of the fighters he had beaten on mock headstones, but the idea was dropped at the last minute, apparently because Richie Wenton was fighting Barrera on the same show, and Wenton had killed a man {James Murray} in the ring.
no doubt.. Naz was the man, I LOVEd his trash talk he'd say "to tell the truth, I really only use about 50% of my power" ::
I think that was the fight where at the end of being interviewed, he ended it with something along the line of "Trick or Treat", instead of saying "Happy Halloween"::
Me and Rydell had him down to win. Rydell had Bernard doing the business in the 9th with a right hand.
