...out of Boxing. What's left in the sport that's meaningful to the masses?

Most of that list is retired, soon to be retired, or irrelevent to the masses...in the US at least.

Yeah well, take Kobe, Lebron, Wade, and Garnett out of the NBA and there isn't much pizzaz in the NBA either.

I thought a white heavyweight champion was supposed to be a massive, massive draw? :dunno:

I don't know about his ratings. However, it is incorrect to say he is irrelevant. Despite the various guys holding various belts, does anyone doubt that Wlad is the top guy in HW division?

Wlad is THE guy to beat at HW. That makes him incredibly relevant.

Agreed, but does that make him relevant 'to the masses'? In that context, he must be the most anonymous HW champ in recent memory, ESPECIALLY considering that he is the consensus No.1 :dunno:

It just goes to show how full of shit American sportswriters (mostly white) are, were, and always will be, in one sentence, they'll say that all racist white people in the world will unite over Wladimir's skin and cheer the Aryan on like as if he were hitler (knowing they themselves would not be part of this group, but they write it anyway), and then in the next breathe they cry and bawl for old times, 'No heavyweight champions are black Americans the way it should be' 'No heavyweight champions have charisma' 'Ask anyone who the heavyweight champion is and they wont know'... fucken typical..

He may not be a big star, but he has made a appearances on main stream shows...late night, morning shows.

There's not a whole lot of boxers doing that these days.

Yep, then he threw what hype he generated from those appearances by fighting like a complete bitch against Ibragimov.

That never stopped Fraud Mayweather's momentum to apparent 'super-stardom', when he ducked Margarito like a scared bitch and was sent bawling all over the podium in public after that disgusting, stinking display against Baldomir,..

I didn't realize there was any pre-fight hype prior to the Baldomir fight?

Wlad on the other hand, was on just about every main stream show promoting the fight with Imbragimov. I thought for a moment there that heavyweight boxing might actually have a savior... (he's very likeable, articulate, and can definitely appeal to the casual fan) then he manages to throw less right hands than I did that night. Bring Mayweather all you want into this argument, but the fact was Wlad had a huge chance to become a star that night, yet he managed to throw it all away by fighting like a vagina.

    Absolutely right.

For one night only, the eyes of the world were back on the most prestigeous division in boxing, and within 15 minutes all of those eyes were starting to close as heads fell into laps.

    A complete waste.

Ali never, so far as I am aware, threw more power-parries in a fight than he did right hands... :nono:

How about "The world awaits!",..is there any fight that is a better example of FOCUS ON BOXING than this one?......

How did Fraud go in setting himself up to be a superstar that night?..

Of course there are double standards! Wlad is the heir apparent to perhaps the most prized position in the premiere division of the sport! His unification fight had so much publicity behind it, that it could have used it as a springboard to win over tons of fans, yet he squandered it by fighting like a 6'5 vagina against a fat boy half his size!
