Taken from another site What is vBookie? It is an online book system that allows people to create and bet on sporting events. How do I create a vBookie event? It's Simple. When you're starting a new thread do so normally, enter in Title and message etc. After, scroll down and look for the "Post a vBookie Event" option. Click the selection box to the left and then Click "Submit New Thread" When you click submit you will be brought to the vBookie Event creation page. Event group: Fill in the type of sport for the event. IE: football, NASCAR, etc. Event Title: Fill in the name of the event. IE: Daytona 500, Maverics vs. Suns, Sharks vs Ducks, etc. Number of Outcomes: Select the number of possible outcomes. I am not sure if there are a maximum number of outcomes, but the more you put in the longer it'll take to set-up the event. I'd suggest doing no more than maybe 10-11(maybe for a car race do top 10 and then "the field" for everyone else). Event Outcomes: Here is where you fill in who the participants are and the odds of them to win. About Odds Odds of "5/1" are "amount won per amount placed". This means that I would win 5 for every 1 placed. Of course, if I win, I get my stake back as well. Odds of "1/5" means that I win 1 for every 5 placed. I'd have to place 25 to win just 5. Event Bet Acceptance and Payout Dates: Accept Bets Until: For this section select the date and time(local to you) that the actual sporting event is going to start. IE: Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks are going to start on March 28, 2007 @ 5:30PST Bets Paid After: For this section be sure to unclick the "Same as 'Accept Bets Until' date" option. Next, set the date and time for when bets will be paid off, this is should be about the time that the event ends or shortly after. IE: Hockey games take ABOUT 2.5-3 hours, so I would set the Paid after for a game about 3 hours ater the bets accepted until time. Schedule accordingly to the event length. Lastly, make sure that the Timezone and the selected start and end times correspond correctly with the event. Don't want to have an even take bets until after the game has already started or pay out before it ends. Allow Multiple Bets: Leave this selected. It will allow people to vote on more than one outcome Can I edit a vBookie Event? Yes. You can edit your own vBookie Event. Moderators and Admins are able to Edit others vBookie Events. When you edit an Event please make sure that all the fields are correct prior saving the edited settings. What is the vBookie link in the navigation bar at the top of the forum? This is a link to the vBookie homepage. On this page you'll be able to see a list of Open Events, Closed Events, Settled Events, and Abandoned Events. Also it will show you the most recent news of what has happened with vBookie Events. Furthermore, you can access the bets that you have placed to see your record and there is a Statistics page with some info as well. What happens if I run out of money? Currently, if you bet and lose all your money, you will be given a "gift to the poor" in the amount of 25 dollars vCash. What can I use my vCash for? Nothing. It's for bragging rights. Are there any other ways to earn more vCash? Currently, no. Though will may explore possibilities to reward members with vCash for posting or starting new threads. Can I add a vBookie Event to an existing thread? No. You need to add the even as you start the new thread. How do i settle a bet? After the event has passed the pay out after time, you'll be able to settle the bets. Return to the thread with the event you started, click the check box to the right of the winner and then click "Settle Bet". If there is no winner, then there will be another box to select, and you still need to click "Settle Bet".
