Japs. Simple as that. I fucking love Japs.

The fight card yesterday was really boring until they put a Jap in the ring to liven things up.

    Japs are just awesome.

When you watch Pride it felt like you were watching something special. It felt like you was witnessing a real sporting event. The UFC needs to step there game up on that.

Pride's presentation was second to none. The intro of fighters before the event, the music, the drum-beats, the screaming lady, and all that hoopla. It was fun.

I agree, the whole production felt epic and spectacular.

I'm still amazed they went bust.

Do you know exactly what happened BTG? It was pretty surprising to me, it seemed like it was doing well.

It was doing well, they paid there fighters like real athletes and they always sold out shows that had over 50,000 seats, what went wrong was that they were "caught" having ties to the yakuza and it killed there tv deal and eventually killed Pride.

It was funny to watch the American referee speak the pre fight instructions in English to a Mexican and Japanese fighter.

I loved Pride, but they're ridiculously overated.

I was never one for the intro's, I hated the screaming lady, I can't stand the Japanese crowd that just sits there quietly, and for every Fedor, Cro-Cop and Wandy you had a Giant Silva, Zulu and Butterbean.

Plus, MMA belongs in a cage, not a ring.

I didn't have much respect for MMA until I watched a few Pride shows. I always preferred their shows to the UFC.

pride was a million time better than the UFC mainly because it allowed stomp, kicks and knees on the ground. Banning them advantage the wrestler/bjj artist so fucking much its ridiculous

Some people feel that way. I don't.

I will say, seeing MMA live, it's better in a ring then a cage. But I prefer a cage much more then a ring.

TFK prefers the cage so his no-skill heroes like Tim Sylvia can hump their way to a decision, just the way he likes it. What a fag.

Absolutely, they tried that shit in pride, they'd just get stomped the fuck out

I preferred absolutely everything about pride to be honest, I'm gutted it went down.

And bear in mind, I started being an MMA fan watching UFC 1 when it came out, so it's not like I was introduced to MMA by Pride.

Plus I think the cage gets used as a weapon way too much lately. In the ring your forced to win on skill alone and the new ring the IFL coming out with has no corners at all .It might suck for the wrestlers/BJJ fighter but oh well.

I just hate the fact that they have to constantly stop the action to reposition the fighters in a ring.

For one, a cage just 'looks' better. Second, nothing kills the momentum of a fight more then having to stop, move to the center and reposition. No worries about falling out of the ring. I like the fact that the cage can be brought into play. It just adds a whole other dimension to the sport.

The cage only looks better for street thug wannabees, hill billies, and guys like TFK who wear 501 Levi's jeans and put a sock in their crotch. Fucking faggots.

Last warning, keep your pathetic trolling out of the MMA forum. You'd be banned for doing it in the boxing section, the MMA section is no different.

If you enjoy being verbally destroyed by me that much, God knows I do it enough in TAAA. But, like the boxing area, the rules here are different.

I brought up a valid point and you haven't responded to it.

UFC fans = Mostly drunken idiots looking for a brawl
Pride fans = Educated MMA fans looking for skill and technique

Look how popular Tim Sylvia was and he's a fucking bum.

Have you even listened to the crowd of a UFC card when the match hits the ground? Totally ignorant idiots who "boo" when some good ground work is being performed

Your experience = "I've wrestled a little in high school."

My experience = "Black belt in judo under Olympian Judoka, and Blue Belt under Royler Gracie Black Belt."

Let's not even try to debate who knows more about the intricacies of the ground game.

You're way out of your league UFC boy.

That is just ridiculous dude. I think the difference is they just plain respect fighters more in Japan. They respect all aspects of the game far more than the average American.

Tim Sylvia is one of the most hated fighters on earth. Are you kidding me? Popular is not a word that describes big Tim.

And I love the 'skill and technique' of Pride. Head stomps. Soccer Kicks. Butterbean. Giant Silva. Fighters pumped full of roids and painkillers because there was no drug testing. Etc, etc.

Like I said, I loved Pride, but people seem to deify it for some reason, and they remember it for something it wasn't.

Right, headstomps and soccer kicks ended fights decisively, while elbows sometimes caused BS cut stoppages.

    Do you even watch MMA?

American fans don't respect it because they don't understand it. You get lots of MMA newbies like TFK and other UFC fans who think working for a choke or armbar is "boring" when there is real skill being displayed.

I bet you $500 TFK couldn't tell you the proper way to place your hooks on an opponent to get a rear naked choke (but he'll probably google it and give some explaination so he doesn't look like a douche).
