Vera vs Wandy has been scratched. Here is the card to date.... -Anderson Silva (#1 Middleweight in the World)* vs. James Irvin (at Light Heavyweight) -Hermes Franca vs. Frankie Edgar -Brandon Vera vs. Reese Andy -Cain Velasquez vs. Jake O'Brien Anderson Silva and Vera make their debuts at 205. Franca\Edgar moved from UFC 87. Jake O'Brien returns to the UFC after being released to face Velasquez, who is one of the young heavyweights UFC is looking to build up. Should be a kickass show. TFK
Silva's Probably STILL Gonna B As Tall or TALLER than Most of the Guys he Fights AND his Speed Advantage will B Even MORE Prominent Against Bigger Men... REED:kidcool:
Brandon Vera AKA Manny Pacquiao wannabee is garbage. I was looking forward to Wanderlei beating his ass.
I'll be watching Affliction. F*ck the UFC. I don't just watch every piece of garbage they throw out there. Especially mediocre nobodies like Franca and O'Brian.
So basically he has to change the way he fights to do anything at 205? He won't be bullying or inposing his size and power at 205 like he did at 185 in my opinion.
Sure, we'll See FEWER of the KNEE Strikes Out of the Clinch, but Silva's KICKS & PUNCHES Should Land Even EASIER on Bigger Men... He'll B Fine on the Ground as Well, N REED's Opinion...Unless he Puts Himself N a Ground & Pound Predicament, like the Lutter Fight... Even @ 185, Silva Seems to FINESSE his Way to Wins MORE than Simply Overpowering them...REED Could B Wrong about that, but that's how it APPEARS Anyways...& @ 205, Silva's Finesse ADVANTAGE Should B Even Greater...Plus, w/his HEIGHT, REED Thinks he'll CARRY 205 Better than Most Other 185'ers Would... REED:hammert:
So is Silva vacating his title at 185? His stay at 205 should be interesting. There are better strikers at that weight than at 185. None of them are as technically sound as him, except maybe for Machida, but there are a lot of heavy hitters that can put his chin to the test. That is, if they can find it...
This is gonna be great. Silva will get tested in a way that he never was/would be at 185. I still think he will be efffective at 205 too. I agree with REED that Silva relies more on finesse/technique rather than brute strength. This should be fun.
Agreed. All I see on this ufn card are a bunch of mismatches and just a rushed show altogether.....but you know how UFC supporters are Hanzy.Dana will throw them dog shit and call it fudge and they'll be running in droves to see it.
Oh, he's a good fighter alright, but he aint no light heavyweight. He'll be in a lot of trouble on the mat with the bigger grapplers, who melt down from heavy. Rampage would dominate him, IMO. Hell, I think he'd struggle with a Matt Lindland.
Some people think he's better than Fedor....I guess we'll find out when he fights fighters bigger than him for a change.
Fighters who are better than Fedor don't get beat by Chonan or Tamura. It may have been a few years ago, but those traits still exist. Similar to Matt Hughes' past sub losses were written off befre Penn put him out.
That was my point, mate. Lindland is a middleweight who has fought and fought well, against 205 pounders. I dont think Silva is ready.
..... Someone correct me if I am wrong but fightnight is free, Affliction is not. Granted it's not the best card but I will always want to see an Anderson Silva fight, he's a bad ass. Frankie Edgar-Hermes Franca is a good fight to. Anthony Johnson is fun to watch as well. It's not the best card but it's good enough.
That's a stretch. Fedor\Sylvia and Rothwell|Arlovski are great fights, but who cares about Pedro Rizzo anymore? Babalu is barely good enough to be a UFC curtain jerker. Whitehead is terrible. And who the hell is Fabio Negao? Two great fights, and that's about all. TFK
