I don't know. That was about the first time in the fight Holt breathing room and about the first time he was willing to actually commit to a punch because he wasn't worried about covering up or what was coming back at him.

    I think there's a much clearer cause/effect to this headbutt than say, Forrest-Mosley I.

The punch that followed the head butt was literally seconds later. He got tied up in the ropes for a second, if anything the ropes had an effect. Are we going to start talking about the ropes causing the KO now?

Mosley was visibly shaken from the head butt, Torres was not.

I don't know why you keep saying "causing".

Torres knees buckled badly from the headbutt and it was that clash of heads (and Holt's follow through as he was trying to throw a right hand when it happened) that pushed Torres into the ropes...and if Torres doesn't get caught up in the ropes and have to get his footing back, he isn't wide open for Holt's right hand.

Never once did I say a headbutt or ropes or his shoelaces caused the KO.

It's too bad you don't have the headbutt or the big right.

I don't think you can get 350+ feet from a fight even if it's in the Superdome. Think about how far away that is.

He set his feet, then put his right hand up knowing there would be some incoming, how about we blame Torres' left hand, THEN Holt's right? This all occured in a split second, The KO was strictly legit.

Why do I keep saying causing? Because people are in not so many words like "lucky" and what you said in this very post :and if Torres doesn't get caught up in the ropes and have to get his footing back, he isn't wide open for Holt's right hand.

Who said the KO wasn't legit?

It doesn't change the fact that Torres was hurt by a clash of heads and that he was knocked off balance and into the ropes from it.

The cause of the knockout was the right hand.

The cause of his legs buckling and him going into the ropes was NOT the right hand.

Therefore: Him getting his balance was not the cause of the KO.

I don't see how you can really argue that the KO wasn't a result of the clash of heads. Holt landed a monster haymaker because Torres was not defending himself. Torres went from trading punches with Holt to laying against the ropes trying to steady himself after that clash of heads.

Holt does not win by KO if he doesn't land that right hand.
Holt does not land that right hand without the clash of heads.

Mosley-Forrest I does not compare. At least action was halted momentarily in that fight because of the butt. And then Shane got caught switching to southpaw and wasn't out of Forrest's range. Bad comparison for whomever brought that one up.

Did you miss this gif Tyler?

He didn't just lose his balance.

Torres was not defending himself in the 1 second? He did defend himself, in fact you can see him put his glove by his face before getting clobbered.

Speculation he doesn't land that punch because his feet were planted and had his hands up. People get headbutted all the time, it does not mean you will get KO.

I agree with your take on Mosley.

You absolutely see his right leg go forward too far as he is squared up from his reaction to the clash of heads, causing his left foot to go back to get his balance.....which he did get his balance immediately afterwards.

After seeing that gif, I would like to propose a new excuse for Torres.....if he didn't try to throw the right hand, he wouldn't have reacted the way he did to the headbutt because he wouldn't have been as squared up, and possibly could have avoided the headbutt altogether.

I mentioned the Forrest-Mosley headbutt becasue Mosley and some fans blamed his loss in varying degrees on the headbutt.

How much that clash of heads cost Mosley in that fight, is far more debatable than this fight, because there's a direct link from the headbutt to the end of the of the fight.

The only point I was making is that how much effect some headbutts have on the outcome of fights can be debated, but not in this fight.

He was squared up and lost his balance because he was in the middle of punching at Holt when he got head-butted. You can CLEARLY see his right foot off the ground when he got headbutted. The headbutt is being discussed too much which was my opinion ALREADY stated. I don't need your gay input from TAAA about me, and I don't need it in GD forum either trying to discredit my opinion in which I am entitled to. You disagree, then say your peace, otherwise get off my dick or get a nose choke. Your decision, choose wisely.

How can you be entitled to an opinion when there is clear video evidence proving the head butt lead directly to the KO?

This is WAY too conclusive to have an opinion.

So his foot was not off the ground as Torres was throwing a punch, then gets a headbutt.........and being squared up like that does not lose your balance? :eek:ld:

The right hand lead DIRECTLY to the KO :slap:

    You chose wisely.

The right hand WAS the KO. No head butt = no KO. Not at that moment, anyway.

There's no rational arguement the other way. None.

The first rule in boxing is "protect yourself at all times."

I don't see what the controversy is. Was there a headbutt? Yes. Did it stun Torres? Yes. Both guys were winging, Holt simply got lower and came up and his head met Torres' chin. Guys are acting like Holt butted him on purpose which was clearly not the case.

The right hand was a huge punch. Torres with his facilities in tact would have been badly hurt from it regardless. I'd argue that the right hand was better than the one Torres put Holt down with.

It was an entertaining fight, let them fight again.

Both of their fight were crazy. Holt got hit in the head with a bottle and the ring was littered with trash in the first fight. Torres gets a nasty headbutt followed by one hell of a KO punch in the second fight. It definitely needs to happen again.

if not for the head butt

the two punches after that wouldn't have landed. The head butt set up those 2 punches.

    If he wasn't throwing a punch, no-headbutt.

If the ring was bigger, no entanglement on the ropes.

If he wasn't squared up and had both feet planted, no need to try and get balance and he could have easily blocked the punch.

No ropes there, he could have kept going left and wouldn't have been trapped.

If he put his right hand up instead of his left, no KO.

If only he was in the center of the ring, and grandma had balls.

See what happens? There is no end to the excuses one can make, get over it.....you can't give Torres the W. No way, no how. But you tried. You get an A for effort, I'll give you that no matter how futile it was.

Oh Jesus Christ just make a third fight so yall can stop whining! Holt will ice Torres within 3 rounds legitmately in a rubber match. Torres will likely never be the same again after such a brutal KO.

I don't know that anyone is whining. Pointing out that a clash of heads DIRECTLY led to the concussive knockout is more or less a statement of fact, isn't it?

Holt might stop him again. Then again, Torres might put him on his ass again as well. Something is wrong when the first landed punch of the fight drops you.

It'd be a shame if Torres was never the same again. He was on his way to winning that fight and he just got unlucky. Holt capitalized the way he should have.
