Right, but he is not a legit champ, he just beat Alcine, who is maybe a top 10 fighter at 154.

That was a beautiful feint by Santos just before he threw the KO punch.

I always thought he fought as if he didn't believe in himself. But I think the Margarito fight woke him up like someone else mentioned. Santos always kinda fought - for lack of a better term - gay. But Margarito made him fight and we discovered a few good things about him. One, he can punch. Two, he doesn't take one that well but he's got some moxie. And finally, a big, strong southpaw is always gonna be a problem if he fights like one. He's been inactive in the past and that led to a lackluster performance against that other champ but if he stays busy, he'll be a problem.

Nothing lackluster about his performance against Dzinziruk. Just lost to a better man in a very good fight.

Possibly. I just wish these junior middles got some more recognition and airtime. Boxrec (and HBO) still has Oscar De La Hoya the #1 154lber even though I can't remember the last significant victory he had.

One of the best jr. middleweight fights of the last few years, certainly top five. Great boxing conest.

How good Dzinziruk is? Well some say he lost to Sebastian " One good ear" Lujan, but I haven´t seen that fight. I think he clearly lost his last fight to Lukas Konecny (9-3, 8-4ish), who is a mid-level european talent. My theory is that he can box with the best of them, but can look like total garbage against mediocre swarmers.

Santos came to the Dzinziruk fight after a 15 months period of inactivity. Rustiness did had some effect on him.

    Not unless its in Bayamon.

Anyway, that was a sick KO. Probably the second best of his career. Got to go a long way to find a better one-punch finish than the one he recorded over Neil Sinclair.

Santos just koed an undefeated champ while Dzinziruk just robbed a bum, so I'd say Santos is a legit champ 154

:bangh: Jesus. What is wrong with you people. You don't get to pick who you think is champ. This ain't no 'choose your own adventure' book for christs sake.

I like Santos' chances in a rematch. Would love to see it happen, the first match was very enjoyable.

Yup. And although Santos would have to be favored, Cintron wouldnt be without a chance.

Exactly, I don't get to pick who is champ, I didn't get to pick Santos to be a legit champ, he did that himself by koing Alcine. I get to pick who's the man to beat, a.k.a. the number 1 of the division, and Santos may very well be that man at 154

Sure, if you ignore the fights that actually happen and the results that followed; yes, you could make that claim. :notallthere:

Well then the last recognized unified champion at junior middleweight was Winky Wright and since he was not defeated in the ring for those belts, the next boxer recognized as the Man in the division was Travis Sims, who was defeated by Joachim Alcine which now was defeated by Santos. Thus Santos is now The man, unless you try to make a case for Segio Mora who beat old timer Vernon Forrest, who won the title in an eliminator against coming-from-defeat welter Carlos Baldomir:boohoo:eek:r maybe Verno Philips, who beat Cory Spinks, who decisioned Roman Karmazin (after being KO silly in his previous bout with Zab Judah at welter), who defeated Kassim Ouma, who lost the title in his second defense and had won the title from Verno Philips, who won the vacant title in an eliminator and lost it in his first defense.:shit:

In my book, Daniel Santos is The Man. Of course he needs to fight and beat Dzinziruk to erase any doubts as to who is #1.

All I know is Santos and Dzindurik both have a title. They fought before and Santos lost. That makes him nothing more than a paper champion. Trying to rationalize Santos in front of him is pretty pathetic.

Really? Based on his win over Jose Rivera? :atu:Travis Sims was a titleist, he was never "the man". There wasn't 1. Just a bunch of titleist. Of course when you have 2 titleist, and 1 already beat the other I think he should be rated in front of the guy he beat. Especially when he drops him and wins clearly.

OMG. I can't believe I just read that. Santos is the man because he beat a nobody, why the guy who BEAT SANTOS is still undefeated and holds the belt he took FROM SANTOS. My god.

Just to make this clear, does anyone consider Mikkel Kessler the legit champ @ 168? I mean, he won a world title. It doesn't matter than the guy who beat him, is still undefeated...does it?
