there is no way delahoya will agree to weigh in at 147lbs on the afternoon of the fight. maybe at an 8am weighin. even then I doubt he can make 47

The Pacquiao camp is also asking for the weigh-in to be held on the day of the fight in a bid to deny Dela Hoya the chance to add up in weight before he climbs the ring against Pacquiao.

.....this demand is totally unreasonable.....there is a good reason why we have 24 hour weigh-ins......if Pacquaio wants to take a risk by taking on a welterweight, he should take on that risk in its entirety

when was the last time there has been a 24 hour weighin? they are usually at least 30+ hours and when was the last time delahoya fought at welterweight?

Sounds good to me. Dela wants to fight a guy who starting boxing at 106 pounds. Same day as the fight weigh ins are good. We have all wanted that for a long time. I see no problem with it.

Ridiculous fight. For Manny, I can totally understand why he'd take it. For Oscar, to make this fight is just plain wrong.

That would be like Tarver or Dawson calling trying to fight Oscar. It's such a ridiculous size difference it's just stupid.

    Agreed.

Though Pac may be on to something...it's probably best that they don't let the public see them side by side until the day of the fight.

That way they avoid having pics of DLH dwarfing PacMan on the Friday TV/Saturday print news cycle.

I don't blame Pac for making the demands. But this is a retarded matchup. De La Hoya wants to fight a name, which Pac certainly is, but he wants to fight a name that he can beat, and the size difference should certainly assure that. And Pac is just agreeing to this fight to cash in on a duely deserved huge payday.

Make no mistake, right now, Pac is a much better fighter, pound for pound, then De La Hoya, but the weight difference is too much, and he's probably gonna get KO'd. Especially if the weigh in is the day before.

Shame on De La Hoya for making this fight.

I hope Pac knocks Oscar out cold. I know it would damn near be a miracle if that happened but Oscar deserves it for making this fight.

I have never rooted against Oscar, I have always been a fan of his but not in this one. This is dirty!

I hope that Pacquiao does not budge an inch when it comes to his demands.

Then maybe the fight won't come off.

This tells me Pac actually wants to win the fight, it's not only for the money. I can't believe how delusional he is. I think he needs an asswhiping.

I think it's more Pac not wanting another Gatti\Gamache fight. That fight ended Gamache's career.

You gotta love a guy who's willing to give up so much in weight and size and still carry that sort of confidence in his ability! :cheer:

Well, he shouldn't look at Oscar then if he thinks he's too big. That fight is a fucking farce. Shame on both of them.

I agree! Both Pacquiao and Arum want the fight so people shouldn't act like it's only Oscar and Manny is being forced into this.

I rather see manny take an asswhipping than watch him in the ring with David Diaz, Valero, Soto or any other mismatch on his favor.

either way this fight with Oscar won't come off.

I agree that the fight is a joke. But I can't blame Pac for wanting to cash in. If anyone deserves a huge payday, he does. And Oscar is his best, if not only chance to get it. He just wants to make sure he doesn't get hurt in the process.

Are you a Pacquiao nuthugger or what? How much weight Pac gains between the weigh in and the fight?

Since when same days weigh in are the norm exactly?

Its not the norm, but when a fighter comes in 20 pounds over the weight and wins, everyone complains there should be a same day weigh in. Nothing wrong with what Pac is asking.

 Damn dude chill. No need to get your panties in a knot.

I think DLH is an absolute pussy for trying to make this fight, but how can you blame Pac for being receptive to the idea when he will not only get a career high payday, but like you said Pac is crazy enough to think this fight is actually winnable for him. How could you NOT like that?

If you're willing to fight a guy who is naturally 20lbs or so heavier than you, then you better make damn sure that you can somehow turn that around and use that to your advantage.

Pac can ask but Delahoya will tell him to go pound sand. Pac's got $20 Million reasons to just get in line and shut the fuck up.

It's a stupid fight but it will make tons of money. There's absolutely no upside for Dela outside of the money. Pac would be stupid not to take it, win or lose. It's Hoya's gift to him.
