Maybe this has been done...anyway even if it has, the landscape may have changed since...
Obviously assuming he'll come out of retirement.
If you think he won't, or it's moot unless he does, simply don't post in this thread.

N Terms of Inflicting PUNISHMENT on Floyd, the "Toughest" Would B Margarita...Floyd Would Need PLENTY of Air N the Tires on that Bicycle, to Win this Fight...

N Terms of Taking ROUNDS from Floyd, it Would B Shane or Williams...Shane's SPEED & BODYPUNCHING Could Give Floyd Problems, as Would Williams' SIZE, LENGTH & WORKRATE...

Williams because of the southpaw style and height and reach advantage. Margarito is around Corrales' height so PBF is more likely to deal with that easier.

Williams' workrate could work both ways in difficulty and ease but Floyd would have to find his way inside.

    Margarito.

He's basically a bigger, stronger and better version of Castillo.

No one is gonna out box Floyd, to beat him you're gonna have to be in his face throwing bombs all night. Margarito fits this to a tee.

I really think that these could be 2 of Floyds toughest opponents to date. Williams by just keeping him at range and squeaking by a decision, and Margarito by imposing his will on him. Please PBF come back and settle this!!

    Paul Williams.

Margarito will be surprisingly easy. And by the way..I picked Margarito (tentatively) to beat Cotto...and so in no way am I underestimating or hating on Tony.

He's just too slow and gets hit way to easily to possibly even win one round against Floyd.

In that he's not as skilled, his punches are not as compact and he's slower? ...

Really? I can't find that prediction anywhere. The only prediction I saw was you having Cotto by controversial decision.

Interesting. If you look at the list would you pick Ricky Hatton or Zab Judah to beat any of these guys?

    Word. :bears:

As always, the overrating of a fighter on message boards after on solitary fight has begun in earnest. Margarito beat Cotto badly and he was outstanding in doing so, showed great courage, perserverence and chin BUT he is far from some kind of perfect fighting machine; he's still ponderous in his movement, pretty one-dimensional, loopy and wide with a lot of his punches and he is emminently hittable.

As to the question in this thread, and in spite of all of this, I'd probably agree that Margarito would be the best bet to beat Floyd, presuming as I am, that he would not have sufficient stamina to hit and run his way out of range (as Cotto tried and succeeded in doing for half a fight) for the entire fight. If Floyds stamina held, I'd sugest he'd run to a pretty wide and comfortable UD.

I also agree that Williams, who is an awkward customer, could also present difficulties for Floyd.

That said, I really don't see the purpose of this thread. Floyd has RETIRED, and even when he was 'active', he showed absolutely no appatite to take on ANY of these fighters. If he wasn't gonna do it then, what suggests he might do it now or in the future?

These fights are effectively 'Mythical Matchups' when they should have been and could still be headline fights.

    Fuck PBF

No doubt that PBF is a stellar fighter, but his run at 147 ( especially ) and 140 have been very crefully maneouvered and in no way did he insured as the dominant fighter in these division.

Probably Paul Williams. I've always felt that Williams would give Mayweather absolute hell with his southpaw style, workrate, height, wingspan, etc....

Williams's defense is leaky, but probably more so against lefties, which Mayweather is not.

Natually people would always rate old timers over a contemporary arrongant fighter like Floyd...but LOK's assertion isn't as laughable as you suggest.

Floyd doesn't deserve the ranking as of this moment because he hasn't beaten any one of Margarito, Cotto or Mosley.

However...if Floyd were to come back and dominate Margarito and retire..hirtory would treat him very well indeed.

I voted Williams but I still think Cotto has a better chance than Margarito does.

I think Cotto's the toughest style matchup. Enough of a brawler but skilled enough to keep Floyd honest.

I'm not interested in a Mosley fight to be honest.

Margarito will also pose a very tough challenge.

Paul Williams is my favorite guy out of all of these fighters but he is tailor made for Floyd IMO. I pretty much came to that conclusion watching the first Quintana fight.

High workrate but too slow with his combos. Floyd will potshot him to death as badly as he did Corrales.

    You are NUTS!!!!

In ten years time, Floyd will not even be in anyone's top TEN fighters of all time, never mind No.1

The idea that Floyd is the greatest fighter of all time is a DISGRACE to the likes of SRR, Ali et all.

    Absolute nonsense.

Williams and Williams would win. Floyd and his "hopkinsesque" punch output would lose a UD everytime, imo. If Floyd won, people would say Williams is garbage. He isn't but he did lose to Quintana, an uberbum.
