Floyd DID duck margarito REED. No fucking doubt about it. The Cotto fight made damn sure Floyd isn't un-retiring any time soon. He don't want none of it brother, plain and simple.

Floyd didnt duck shit I wish people would stop saying that.

He chose not to accept Arum's offer to fight Margarito. He chose not to entertain the legitimacy of whether Bob's offer was legit or not. He chose to accept Dan Goossen's offer of 8,000,001 to fight Baldomir (a number that Dan confirmed to me yesterday) and he chose a path that paid him a lot of money....MIND YOU.... the same amount EVERY fighter in the sport would have accepted no matter how much of a warrior that fighter would perceive to be

ducking is a strong strong word. To me that means somewhere within the persona of a professional fighter there is fear or fighting someone. I have a hard time believing a fighter at that level and of Floyd's calibur to fear anyone.

sorry not trying to shit on you just the concept Floyd ducked anyone

a route any fighter would have taken

if you were to ask any fighter that

    1. chose to fight for 8,000,001
    2. then chose to fight for 20+ million
    3. then another 14+ million

be on 24/7 not once but twice, go from a star in boxing to a star period, and set himself for life

not one single fighter would refuse

You make it sound like the Margarito and Baldomir offers were simultaneous.

& YOU Make it Seem Like Bob Arum DIDN'T "Conveniently" Decide to Offer Floyd 8 Mil for Margarita AFTER he KNEW Floyd's Top Rank Contract was Expiring AND that Floyd was OPENLY PURSUING a Fight w/DeLa...

You know as well as anyone else had he fought Margarito he would have got paid the same ammount and gained a ton more respect.

Fighting Baldomir didn't lead Floyd to the Oscar fight. That would have happened regardless of who he fought at that time, unless of course he lost. Which of course there was absolutely no chance he would against Baldomir.

I'm not a fan of fighters paychecks, I'm a fan of fights. I don't care how successful Floyd is. Good for him, he still didn't earn my respect as a fighter. Especially the way he carefully navigated the last 6 years of his career.

You are right, ducking is a strong word, it's more like avoided.

but thats not the whole story Z

in order for him to fight Tony, Arum put options in the proposal. It was a last ditch attempt to get Floyd back in Bob's stable

and it would have impacted whether Oscar would have fought Floyd knowing Bob would have wanted to co-promote this fight

with Floyd as a free agent GBP became the sole promoter and thus making it easier to make the fight

and yes we are all fans of fights and if it was as simple as the best fight makes the most money then fine but it isnt like that

I'm going to have to agree here. After what Margarito did to Cotto, Floyd aint thinking about un-retiring anytime soon! Floyd dosent want no part of Margarito.

I didn't know Arum tried to put option on Floyd future fights in the contract. That is a key thing I was missing.

What was going on since the fall of 05?

Attemps by Arum to make Mayweather-Margarito? He said he'd made earlier attempts to make the fight.

This was all discussed to death in the nicely titled "I was never impressed" thread.

Was that his opinion after the fight?

I'm glad he was the only one who scored it for Margarito.

Honestly, I don't think the media scorecards matter much, though there did seem to be a trend in the opinion from ringside that differed from those who watched it on tv (not dissimilar to the reaction after Mosley-DLH II).

Margarito was around WW and was consistent but let's be realistic. He never really had that big win to get him over the hump until now. Floyd really didn't have any reason to fight him at the time.

he told Steve Kim that I think during the week of the fight.

and yeah it seemed to be a big difference from what press row had to what was seen on TV. Press row had it fairly closely contested while those watching from TVs had it close but clear for PWill

I generally swing from 7-5 PWill to 7-5 Margarito depending on which of Tony's nuts I am on

I interviewed PWill and his trainer/manager George Peterson and they both realize that this fight won't happen which is a shame because it makes so much sense to do it.

PWill is a good dude and anyone short of Tony I will root for him. I sat there for 20 min after all interviews had been done just shooting the shit with him and he is about as geniuine as they come. He says if they ever fought again he will stop Tony in 6
