Margarito might not stop Shane, but it would not surprise me if he does. But it is a given, that Shane will take a sound beating in the process.
Williams would be a COMPLETE NIGHMARE for Mosley. He has a better chance against Margarito, stylewise.
yeah - well according to you Marg had no chance at beating Cotto either. Mosley would be much more comfortable getting inside on Williams and outmuscling him than he would against Marg. That's the difference. Williams is a tough customer. But he's no nightmare for Mosley.
Man you really enjoy saying stuff for shock value don't you? You're one of the few solid trolls on this site who likes to hide his true nature. Everyone knows that Williams has the length and boxing ability to make Shane's life in the ring a living hell. Still though, Williams has only fought smart one time that I've seen (Margarito) and odds are he'd probably spend too much time brawling. Only YOU didn't know that! You were just being all shock valuey and stuff.
I dunno about that. I can't remember if I made a forum prediction on this or not but in Private I was telling Buddy Rydell before the fight that I was leaning towards Margarito stopping Cotto.
WTF do you know? You don't think Mosley could get inside on Williams and outmuscle him? This isn't Vernon Forrest we're talking about - a guy with solid fundamentals and devastating punching power. This is a sloppy volume puncher with a leaky defense and very relaxed in the ring - just the kind of guy whose body Mosley could pound on all night. I'm not trying to shock anyone. I'm giving you my honest opinion that Williams would be an easier fight for Mosley than Margarito. I'm not sure he could win either one (who can ever be sure)? But if given the choice, and I were Mosley, I'd take Williams.
has anyone else knocked Mosley on his azz the way Vernon did? at 147, Vernon was a hard puncher. only an idiot would dispute that so this comes as no surprise and qualifies as yet another debate not worth having with the likes of you. even when we agree, you find nuances to the argument such that, "I'm wrong." when it comes to me, you're just an azz-hole. that's the way it is. i find it amusing because i obviously get under your skin for some reason. that's the only explanation i can find to explain your tendency to create a debate/argument even when you agree with me.
Actually Vernon does have very solid power, he just never had the aggression and killer instinct to rack up brutal KO's. He can punch, no doubt.
forrest punches hard, but not quite 'devastating' as double l would suggest. shane's head was right there to be hit. you don't have to be a vicious puncher to knock somebody down w/ those kind of accurate shots. anyhow, williams would beat mosley handily. mosley's not as patient of boxer like quintana, who's a defensive fellow southpaw.
I think early in the fight Shane might look like Cotto as far as being faster than Margarito and winning a few rounds. Just beating him to the punch. But as the fight goes into the second half Margarito will slow him down. I don't know if Margarito can stop Shane but will come close to doing so.
MWS you, maybe more than any other poster here, seem to have the same views on things as I do. I've often found you writing things almost from the same point of view as I've had and here we are agreeing again. You're absolutely right that Forrest's lack of aggression is probably why he doesn't have the kind of KO rating that he could have. I also think that his 2 shoulder surgeries robbed him of some power as well. Forrest was throwing with some of the meanest and hardest intentions I've ever seen in the first Mosley fight. It didn't really surprise me when he dropped and hurt Shane, I was worried about those punches in the first rd. Didn't Quintana beat Williams by being in his face and brawling, not by boxing? Isn't that the same thing Mosley would do? I'm not saying Shane wins, but just that Williams -- much like Corrales used to -- fights like an idiot.
this is why Shane is always one of my favorites.. while we have DLH calling out former featherweights and looking for 70/30 splits.. Shane will fight anyone..
The differnce is Oscar can fight nearly anyone and make millions, where as Shane has to actually fight another good fighter to make a decent payday. They both do what they have to do to make the money. It's just easier for Oscar.
yea but shane didnt have to fight winky wright. he could've fought mayorga (although he lost to stinks) or tito for more $, but instead, he lost to winky and then opted for a rematch and lost again. if he had beaten tito, he would've gotten a lot more money against winky had they fought afterwards.
I agree, I'm just saying he and Oscar are at the end of their careers and if Shane could make Oscar money fighting a small guy I'm sure he would do it too!
Shane isn't afraid to lose.. that's something I like.. he said once in an interview "I'll probably have 5, 6, 7 losses before I call it quits.. because I will fight other top fighters and you can't win 'em all"
Indeed :bears: Lest we not forget, I rallied to get you unbanned from that preposterous banning. Have you got over feeling like mr anonymous now? :: By the way, how did you see the Cotto - Marge fight?
No the fuck he wouldn't. Quit trying to lump Shane's mentality in with Oscar's because it can't happen. Shane cares about his legacy. Oscar may have earlier in his career but now his main focus is the most money with the lest risk. Shane has rarely been about the money and even now, his main focus is fighting the best. Before Cotto lost his main focus he said was Floyd and Cotto. Once Cotto lost he then said he wanted Margarito. So please stop trying to justify Oscar's bitchassedness by saying Shane would do the same thing. It's 2 totally different mentalities.
Yeah, you THE man and you MY man. Not in a gay sense of course. :: I'm not feeling so anonymous lately mainly because I haven't been posting enough to get ignored and most people have been responding so as long as I don't bring back the invisible man avater I think that means I'm doing okay. Yeah, I saw most of the fight. I felt Margarto won. jk. I wasn't too surprised with the result when I was reading the rd by rd as it sounded like that would be the outcome. It just pisses me off because Shane could have been the one to have done that first, but he's just too old now.
