No one I saw said that. It was alluded that he might have fared better at 140 but would still lose. I don't honestly think it would make much of a difference myself. Floyd is just plain better.
Correct- certainly no-one here said the result would have been any different, only that he would have been more likely to see the final bell at 140. The Floyd nuthggers simply go on about it ad nauseum; some of them even periodically bump Floyd-Hatton threads back to the front page of the forum in an attempt to regale us with such insightful posts like: "Floyd shitted in Hatton's mouth" :: Anyway, Hatton is the most obvious example I can think of in this era, along with Calzaghe. Tszyu was a good example also. MW is an interesting one. Of recent(ish) times, Benn and Eubank were better MW's than SMW's; Benn lost a lot of his power when he moved up and Eubank just lost almost everything bar his durability (albeit this happened after Watson II, so that might have been the factor there). McClellan didn't carry his power beyond MW in the one fateful fight he had there. Hopkins was a career MW despite his later exploits. I'm also unsold on Pavlik beyond 160, in that I don't know if his power carried up either, but I might yet be wrong. MTF
Gotta agree with Feebs on Benn and Eubank they never looked as dangerous. Hatton is the most obvious, forget the Floyd fight remember Collazo.
some here STRONGLY alluded to it.. or maybe even said it.. but then later on changed it to "he would have done better" ::
come on G.. you remember that don't you? I'm not digging through posts.. but someone here said it... one of my fav posters and his name rythms with NPS
Moved up and ended Mesi's career for all intents and purposes. Is this thread about one weight for their whole career or can we list guys who moved up late like Jirov?
Ricardo Lopez moved up very late in his career, but he did fight two champs at the higher weight. Terry Norris, anyone? True he fought welterweights, but at the Jr. Middle limit. Gianfranco Rosi might be another one. Lonnie Bradley? I was gonna say Virgil Hill, but he moved up and won a cruiser title although he spent most of his career at Lightheavy. Henry Maske. Sven Ottke. Diarrhea Michalczewski.
He still lost the fight, because he didn't anything the first 8 rounds. He was knocked out by Moorer and couldn't even get a clear decision over Orlin Norris. Not really up to the standard he had at cruiser.
