    Tough fight to call imo.

Sure, Hearns could turn lights out with one shot, BUT was chinny, and didn't have the best legs at 147.

Curry was the shit up until the Honeyghan fight, when he just lost it and just never got it back.

I love Thomas Hearns. He is one of the fighters that originally got me into watching boxing. Perfect blend of power and speed. Curry was also a perfect blend of speed and power...the other way.

Hearns wins. Curry was a great fighter, but he'd learn real quick that this is NO McCrory he's facing. Curry usually had a handspeed edge over everyone he faced, but in this fight he'd be facing someone with better handspeed, and a better boxer at distance. Curry's only shot would be too get inside, but he wouldnt survive Hearns' right hand in order to do that. Hearns KO 4.

You have to go with Hearns, but Curry was the f'n man before he lost.

    I can live with that.

But it seems that you overrate Hearns most of the time. Sure, he could box. BECAUSE he was infinitely long. But he had no legs, questionable stamina, ...no chin and he couldn't take it to the body either. His power bailed him out a BUNCH of times.
And if Curry landed that left hook on Tommy the way he landed it on McCrory......Tommy would still be asleep.

Seems like you are confusing Hearns at Middleweight and above with Hearns in his Welterweight days, which is the actual topic here. He was beaten one time at this weight, and it took a fighter as great as Ray Leonard to do it.

And Hearns won a lot of fights by knockout, but that's not the same as needing his power to bail him out "a BUNCH" of times, as you put it. Come to think of it, how many times did it look like Hearns might lose during a fight and needed to score a KO to win? The Roldan fight is eometimes mentioned in that ligh, but Hearns had Roldan down 3 times earlier in that fight. Sure, Roldan hurt Hearns, but it's not like Hearns was on his way out and needed a desperation KO to save himself.

Which other fights are you talking about? What are the examples of fights in which Hearns needed his power to bail him out of a fight? I already mentioned Roldan (and don't think even that applies) and to me, a BUNCH of times means more than one or two.

How do I overrate Hearns most the time? I'm not even THAT big of a Hearns fan. If anything, its Curry that sometimes gets overrated. Hearns is by far the greater fighter with the better wins, and at 147 he only lost to one of the greatest fighters ever in Leonard. Curry lost to Lloyd Honeyghan. Nuff said. Even Hearns on an off day woulda wiped his ass with Honeyghan.

If Curry landed that hook on Hearns, sure Tommy would be in shit. But Tommy would have also been in shit IF Cuevas had landed a hook on him. It never happened. And I'd take Hearns' right hand to land before Curry's hook more than times than not.

And best believe that Curry's chin would NOT hold up to Tommy's right hand.
