Berto needs to tighten up that D if he fights Kerm.

    GOOD Matchup...

There's a GREAT Chance that Berto would Make Cintron's Mentally FRAGILE Ass Wilt even EARLIER than MargariTO did...But there's ALSO a Chance that Cintron would STRETCH Berto...

There's just SOMETHING about the Way Berto REACTS to Getting Hit...REED Can't Quite Put his Finger on it...Even TONIGHT, Against Forbes' Powerpuff Ass, Berto Reacted WEIRD whenever he Got Hit...

Berto's Peeps WON'T Risk this Matchup though, but it'd B INTRIGUING...

I don't know boys my take is a little different. Heres the thing, Berto didn't fuck up yet and Cintron has. Berto may not have a great chin but he can cover his mistakes, he basically fought Forbes well enough so that he showed he can take a few punches... even f it was Forbes.

    I would go with Berto.

DiBella has Cintron and Berto. There's zero chance of this fight happening.

You're right about Berto's reaction to getting hit...he doesnt handle it well. I thought Forbes buzzed him more than once. That's what happens when you consistently get hit flush on the chin...eventually you're gonna go, just ask Mayorga.

I'd pick Cintron......Berto doesn't take a shot well enough....Cintron would dwarf him too

thing is, i think Forbes stunned him a wee bit with some shots too.....

....i'm not that high on Cintron, but i just can't see it as a good styles match-up for Berto.....Margarito took out Cintron twice, but it was never with one punch.....it was sustained bombs.....and he had to take some to land some

....another thing with Berto, which wasn't as apparent last night, is his focus.....he has switched off in a number of his previous fights....perhaps with more experience, in a big fight against an opponent he respects that won't be such an issue

.....it is a fight that should be avoided - and with them both being Di Bella fighters - i am sure it will

I can't get the Feliciano bout out of my head when evaluating Cintron. Berto is more pressure, more power, more speed and would in my mind completely rape Cintron if he can tighten up his defense a bit.

He needs to avoid getting hit flush on the jaw though.

For various reasons... yes probably. I think that Margarito's advantages can be overcome frankly, but there has to be some size and strength... its an interesting fact that Cotto, Berto and a few of the other guys are just not "strong."

I think we have a case of people "looking for Berto" to not handle good shots and finding it no matter! Yeah Forbes caught him flush a few times, but I don't know if it buzzed him. I do think the fight was more even than HBO was making it seem, but stevie is a smart vetran and if you are Berto's guys you are probably saying "the Vetran will slow down soon"... which is true, Steve did slow down and Berto took over.

berto's biggest problem against a big welter is that he could not settle down on hs shots enough to make them really hurt the likes of Williams or Margarito.

I agree. Cintron fights like a real fuckin amatuer. Ths book is out... yeah he is a tough guy and he can crack, but Berto should be able to outskill him. I don't think Cintron is as slick as Stevie. Meaning I don't know if Contron can catch Berto with a counter like Forbes did on occasion.

I don't think you have to be as slick as Forbes to catch Berto.

Ok but to be fair... Should Berto be concerned about getting caught by Forbes? I mean if you are on the Berto championship here we come team.... are you going to be telling him?...."Whatever you do Berto don't get caught with the deadly powerful ____punch of Forbes!!!!!"

I mean come on guys, Berto was not fazed and took some shots from STeve Forbes thats a fact. People act like Berto is a defensive dunce cause what? he ate some of Forbes leather? :dunno:

Berto hasn't shown that much concern about getting caught by anybody.

His chin is just so available.

I agree with this. I think Cintron's power is overrated on Mayorga like levels here. I saw it back then and I see it now. I can't recall Cintron KOing anyone of note that he didn't go nearly life and death with. I think Berto's speed makes the difference here and I think Berto is tougher.

I don't recall these magic moments everyone saw where Berto got hurt by Forbes. In fact Berto seems pretty adapt at defense by blocking with his arms. Don't know how well that works for the longer Cintron but I'd pick Berto.

So El Terrible and Mitchell your logic goes something like this: because berto has no chin he should have, despite beating Forbes, avoided his punches at all costs... despite obviously being able to weather the punches of Forbes.

Lets be consistant and realize that Berto read the blueprint and got pass the troll at the proverbial Monty Python gate.... he is on to bigger and better things.... If Stevie didn't touch the guy people would bitch and say they were Kahn-cerned for other reasons... you dig?

You know me I love you guys but when people start picking apart the younger guys when they pass a hurdle.... Berto handled himself well in that fight thats the bottom line.

You talk like last night was the first time anybody's seen Berto.

Unfortunately - given his quality of opposition - he's been a fixture on television (and more recently, HBO) for a while now.

No I talk like I want to evaluate Berto on the merits of his performance. A crafty veteran was about right for him at this stage of the game. I don't care for him much frankly but he got by Forbes and looked ready for the next test. When he goes in against a big Welter like Margarito and gets creamed so be it!

The stage of the game is he's already a world champion...and his best opponent to-date might be Steve Forbes.

Probably, I just didn't feel like arguing the point when the other options are named David Estrada, Mikki Rodriguez, and Cosme Rivera.

I still wonder why people consider Cintron some dangerous elite welterweight.

The guy has power but is mentally weak and is limited in skills.

Berto is too fast and trong enough to overwhelm him. Cintron alwayas has a punchers chance. But in no way should he be the favorite.

Most people have this thing... It functions in an intresting capacity, somewhat between a type of specific intelligence and horse sense... it is referred to as "common sense." To those with this faculty we have a good laugh when Berto is called a world champion. If you are insensed by this I can only imagine all the things that must send you into a rage! I fear for your sanity my friend!!! :nono: Berto is many things, but world champion is not one of them.
