I am wondering if this is the one issue we can all agree on. I am not interested if you are indifferent about Tarver, but does anyone like Tarver.

I used to. He was hungry before/when he fought Jones. Up until he KO'ed him. Then after that he lost his drive and lost pathetically to Johnson and Hopkins. He's on his way out though. I hope Dawson beat him decisively.

Hmmm, I didn't give all those other guys a chance of beating Jones. People talked lots of shit to me for giving tarver a shot. In the end I was the 1....:hammert:

I have disliked Tarver lately for his comp and lack of balls when Glen Johnson has been calling him out, however when it mattered when he was coming up, he ended 2 fights in particular with 1 shot (Chis Johnson and Eric Harding II) both southpaws. At any point in getting his arse handed to him he can land that shot.Tarver is getting old though, we'll see soon if the guy has one good performance left or can pull one out of the fire for old times sake.

I actually do now. I did a couple of interviews with him a while back and the dude is pretty personable, not in a phony "Im in the best shape of my life" way, and pretty engaging to talk to. He BS'd about shit and you could tell the man is very intelligent from the convo we had.

I hated him even up to the point where I interviewed him but he came off nothing like the perception I had of him. He is just assured of himself and well spoken enough to translate that better than most fighters out there

It's still not enough for me to root against Dawson who is one of my favorite fighters but I gained some respect for him

I always liked Tarver. I had the victory cigar ready for Jones I, and also bet on Tarver. I did neither for the rematch, although I picked Tarver by KO. :hammert:

The only people who really like Tarver are Jones haters. This thread alone has the evidence.

I was with him and his wife in CT and he's a nice guy but he thinks he's a king or something.

I tell you what though, I think he's going to be Dawson.

I don't necessarily like Tarver, but I did feel bad for him after I found out he was drugged before the Hopkins fight.

One thing I have to say about Tarver, he's probably the best fighter to lack a fan base.

thread is hall of shame worthy! I tend to enjoy the reaction people have to Tarver. I am one of those JOnes haters who appreciats Tarver for that reason, though I want Jones to whip the Welsh dishwasher (Lok, ibid 2008).

Tarver is a modern day Joe Frazier...Frazier's fanbase largely consisted of Ali haters.

Too bad history won't give Tarver the same kind of respect Frazier received.

Tarver used to be one of my least favorite fighters in the sport.

I no longer mind him or really strongly root against him.

Nice to see you around Otis.

I hope you're wrong. If Dawson is good enough to beat him, that's good for the sport. He has more future than Antonio.

    That, and fuck Tarver.

I must have missed this fight where tarver "lost pathetically to johnson"....??

anyhow I was at the first tarver johnson fight and had tarver winning clearly.

tarver is an alrite guy who had a very good career in boxing, despite the late start. a terrible craps player. as many know I gave him a decent chance at beating jones.

You're just jealous because you can't eat pork. It was hard to score the fight because your mom's head kept popping up and down, blocking my vision.

So in other words you had a worse view than the people who watched on TV. That fight was close, could have gone either way. But I agree, he didn't lose pathetically.

I had great seats although staples center is a shitty venue to watch boxing. I had tarver winning clearly at the fight and watching the hbo broadcast.
