Back in action November 8, 2008 is Haitian boxing prospect, Daniel “The Haitian Sensation†Edouard as he showcases his skills on the Roy Jones Jr./Joe Calzaghe card televised live on HBO PPV at Madison Square Garden, NY. Edouard, one of boxing's bright stars, is remembered for energetic fights and an epic battle with Bernard Hopkins' cousin, Willie “The Gladiator†Gibbs that lasted only four rounds but kept the Mohegan Sun Casino crowd on its feet. The bout, capped by an Edouard KO of Gibbs, was spectacular! http://fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=21861
I like how the press releases completely glosses over the ONE fight from which most of boxing would probably recognize his name - when Jermain Taylor stopped him early on the Hopkins/Eastman undercard. Assuming he will appear on this show, this is easily THE worst undercard to a major show in recent history. I'm not even sure Tarver/Jones III was this terrible, and that u/c was shit. I'm further amazed that HBO is going to do a 24/7 around a show that just isn't selling. Maybe they think one will lead to the other, but I can't see a 24/7 convincing fans that $300 for nosebleed seats (never mind $1500 for ringside) is well worth the investment given today's economy
What are the purses for the fight because 300K covers quite a lot, even with the 50/50 HBO/promoter split
