It had to have been the weight. Theres no other reason why Hop could have lost to a fighter as mediocre as JT. Instead of pursuing RJ, Hop should pursue a 3rd fight with Jermain after Taylor beats up Lacy. If they fight at 168, or at a 170 catchweight, B-Hop will beat that ass and prove that both previous fights were flukes.
I don't buy it. It's not like his output was huge against Tarver, Wright and Calzaghe. He either turned back the clock for one last great performance against Pavlik, or he blew it against Taylor and Calzaghe for taking it too easy.
Losing to a 43 year old guy is career destroying. Hopkins is the last guy on earth anyone should fight unless they have to. He has made everyone, every single guy he has ever fought look boring. Losing to Kessler, a man his age and in a almost guaranteed great fight is better than being beaten by an old stinkbag.
Kessler would beat up Kelly worse than he did Andrade, I fail to see how that fight benefits Pavlik. But like I said, I doubt that fight happens anyway. Pavlik dont want it with Kessler. I have a feeling that we could see Kessler-Taylor in 2009, assuming Taylor gets by Lacy(which he will). Oddly enough, stylewise... Taylor has a better chance at beating Kessler than Pavlik would. Though I still doubt Taylor beats him.

You fuckwads are listening to HBO too much Nard did not win that fight with speed... read what he says about it. Kessler is pretty fucking easy to shut down if he gets scared of Joe Calzighe's power punching... Kessler is no lock against Pavlik don't fool yourselves kidos.
dsimon writes: Nard did not beat Pavlik with speed... a myth perpetuated by HBO reverse nuthuggery. Kessler has no footwork to speak of and would probably be competative with Pavlik. Bernard got there first because he was ut of range. not handspeed
All this talk of Pavlik, Kessler and Andrade...I think Pavlik-Andrade may be more likely in the future than Pavlik-Kessler.
I don't know, with Kessler-Taylor it seems their styles are more similar but that Kessler is simply bigger and better at doing what Taylor does. Neither has the most impressive repetoire of punches, they rely on the left jab, but Kessler's seems to be straighter, a little sharper and more accurate and probably has the better hook. It would probably be a good fight to watch because their styles should mesh pretty well, and Taylor should be able to fight with Kessler...probably not on even terms, but the rounds should be somewhat competitive (though the scores might not be). I'm not sure Pavlik can fight with Kessler as well, but he could be more dangerous later in the fight because. The thing is, Calzaghe's timing is one of his best assets and that's a big reason why he beat Kessler.....Pavlik showed little of it against Hopkins, though B-Hop is certainly more versatile and crafty in his offense.
No, Now I am far from being a Hopkins fan but he just destroyed the guy that rules the SM division and deserves credit for that, his stamina and general fitness amazed me on the night. He took Kelly to school for 12 rounds. In saying that I stand over my comment that B-Hop is a cheating chancing mofo. But he got the job done.
read carefully. kessler would give pavlik a worse beating and stop him. no one here in this country knows kessler. no one here watches his fights. look at the shitty ratings his bout with calzaghe did. hbo took a bath. do you think they'd shell out enough to satisfy pavliks financial demands for taking such a risky bout, on top of what that scumbag palle would want? pavlik looked inept against hopkins, yes. however, hopkins is a known commodity and a boxing legend. just because a worthless blowhard peon like yourself chooses to slander excellent fighters such as hopkins, duran, leonard, jones jr, trinidad, etc does not mean they are any less highly regarded. hopkins is an illusionist and a stinkbag, jones jr is a pussy? no one takes you seriously. don't worry, you can still watch pavlik run through putrid competition to satisfy your fanhood.
He didn't blow anything,.. styles make fights,.. and had Hopkins lifted his output, and come forwards more against Taylor and Calzaghe it would have been RELIEF to either of them frankly...because it would have presented atleast a 'few' openings for them to capitalise on,...instead, it was Hopkins who welched all of those due to the fact that Taylor and Calzaghe for the most part tried to make a fight out of it,....so had Hopkins come forward and fought like a man,.. he'd have been beaten even worse...but against Pavlik who is a much, much, inferior counter-puncher to both of them...............no risk... ...which equals... "turning back the clock with reknewed energy"...
:shit: I just uh,... want to know, what other Light-heavyweights Winky and Pavlik beat,.. to label those victories as and I quote,... "UNBELLIIIEEVVVEAAAABBBLLLLEEEE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWW!!!!" ,.. or is it a stronger victory, to beat a legitmate Lightheavyweight contender like Tavoris Cloud?,.. Tavoris has proven himself more at this higher weight than either Winky or Pavlik have,.. I have a suspicion we might have all been fooled...
