Hopkins has a great of understanding of boxing...i would love to sitdown with him(well not me cause deep down a hate the fucker)..but someone else should ...throw out some past/present fighters name and ask him how he would defeat them...

    Duran
    Hagler
    Leonard
    Pep
    Chavez
    Whitaker..

of course all things being equal.....p4p i guess...

Though I would love to see this fight it will be a staring contest. Both guys will just sit there waiting for the other to take the lead. However after Roy retires Calzaghe he can retire B-hop. I'll Holla 5000

Doubtful. In fact I doubt Nard fights Roy or Joe, I have no idea who he should fight next, but clearly he has no real intentions of retiring.

I hope you're right. I wouldn't mind seeing Dawson-Hopkins in '09 next year, though I doubt the fight is worth Bernard's time, financially. HBO would have to considerably overpay to make that fight a reality.

That said, beyond Dawson and the Calzaghe-Jones winner... what else is there for Hopkins that would make it worth his while to stick around any longer? Maybe Kessler at 168, but it's not like Mikkel's in the same position to demand millions as he was a year ago leading up to Calzaghe - and HBO went out of their way to reveal that the ratings didn't justify the price tag that came with it.

If a fight with a walking corpse is all Hopkins is hanging around for then for God sake retire. Either fight meaningful fights against meaningful contenders or retire. Win or lose, fighting Jones tarnishes Hopkins at this stage, just as it does Calzaghe by turning the last fight of his career in to a cynically conceived circus act.

My two cents: Hopkins should fight Taylor at 168/170 and beat his ass. Then retire. That's a constructive, meaningful thing to do with his last fight.

    Stupid by Bernard imho.

The only way to beat RJ is to KO him or outwork him.

    Hopkins can do neither.

Jones will always be a bad style matchup for Bernard.

Roy's been saying this for a long time, they had talks to fight last year and Golden Boy offered Roy a not so "Legend" offer. So Hopkins fault Winky instead. Pretty much Roy's point is Hopkins says they are both Legends but when they made the offer it wasn't comparable. I can care less if they fight actually. Because the fight will just be a sparring session from both fighters and I doubt the fans will get their moneys worth from it.

because one of the two fighters is actually still relevant, as opposed to neither?
