You guys do not realize what a formidable opponent Vitaly is. IMO he could have beaten almost all former legends. Lennox Lewis put out an outstanding performance in that fight. He showed more determination in that fight than I have ever seen in his fights before. We was not going to let the Ukranian giant win. Even if he had to die in the ring. Lewis vs Vitaly is one of the most awesome and significant heavyweight fights I have ever seen.

The most overated heavyweight fight in a long time.....motherfucking VITALY could not do what Rahman did to an under train ill prepared LENNOX LEWIS in their 1st fight...

I don't remember a fighter getting sooooo much credit for getting his face torn apart.....

and no VITALY would not beat former legengs..like Holy,Tyson,Ali,Foreman,Frazier,Holmes,etc..etc..

I think it's actually a good thing in the end, you never learn, but there is an endearing side to that, it makes you invincible to the ever present bickering and sniping that surrounds us all, your immune to psychological damage, nothing can get in, nothing can corrupt your soul, your an innocent boy in a bubble Illuminati, and that's a good thing...[IMG] ..bubbles are fun, so are rubber ducky's.

I am pretty sure that Vitaly would have beaten Frazier, Marciano, Sonny Liston, Jack Dempsey, Tyson, Joe Louis and Holyfield. He would make a good chance against Lewis, Ali and Foreman. Don't be a hater.

    Marciano/Dempsey/Louis maybe...

Holyfield/Tyson would ko him the fuck out....

Frazier would make him quit on his stool...

Liston and Foreman would Ko him early...

Ali would make fun of him and outbox him easily...

and a past his PRIME Lewis beat his ass...so a Prime Lewis gives him the Briggs/Morrison treatment....

Look at his fights, not his resume.
Loses fewer rounds than anyone else.
Hits like a truck and stops everyone.
In some ways, he's the best heavy ever.

Vitaly has never been in the ring with anyone close to the speed/power/violence of a young Mike Tyson....

He has never been in teh ring vs. someone near the hand/foot speed, reflexes of Muhammad Ali....

He has never been in the ring with anyone with the Punching Power of Sonny Liston or Foreman....

He has never been in the ring with anyone who would hit him to the body...and smash his face with soooo many left hook as Frazier....

Vitaly is TALL.....rangy and can punch...thats all...He is jab/right hand fighter...

Vitaly won't beat Mike Tyson...forget beating the legend that came before Tyson...Holmes,Ali,Frazier,Foreman,Liston...Vitaly is slightly better than the 80's Heavyweight that Tyson raped...The heavys of Tyson time were in shape..while todays heavy just are plain fat and most of them suck...

NO....Holyfield would stop him on the ropes....REF jumps in an saves Vitaly...Holyfield will not put Vitaly to sleep....but he would beat him....

and don't bring up Bowe...Vitaly might hit harder..but fight like a robot straight up...he won't get away from Holyfield punches...

Didn't stop Mike from losing to Buster and Holyfield.
Herbie has the hand/foot speed of Ali.
Frazier wouldn't touch his face. Couldn't reach it.
Lennox hits as hard as Liston and probably very close to Foreman.
Vitali is a jab jab jab jab jab hook hook jab jab right fighter at his most difficult to beat. Wlad has learned the style now. It's so simple and yet so hard to beat.

It's not difficult when you have never face anyone worth a damn....and the one time he did step up vs. Lennox Lewis he was unable to beat him even though he was past his prime and ill prepare..LL was training for the bum Kirk Johnson...

Well can´t say I disagree. That it was put together on two weeks notice and that Vitali hadn´t done much prior made the fight somewhat of an afterthought, but if Vitali continues to dominate the way he did against Peter the fight wil gain in importance.

Bowe, a non-robot, was much easier to hit than Vitali, a robot. Go figure.

In fact back when the fights happened the heavyweight of the 80s were blamed of being lazy.

mikE has the correct take here

I don't know about that but he is pretty good. I just think he looks like he is an amateur in the ring but it works. He hasn't fought anyone fantastic but I think Vitali is underrated. Wlad is trash. I feel sorry for Vitali and HBO for slobbing the knob of the wrong brother.

I do believe that Vitali is underrated, & that Lewis, considering how under prepared (his own fault) he was showed great heart/determination (which wasn't a surprise to me-the guy had great heart/determination courage & self-belief).

I also agree that Holy would not K.O Vitali, & that he would give most HWY's in history trouble.
However he is a looooooong way from being mentioned among the great HWYs.

If someone told me,.. that they saw this bout, where during the fight, one participant cried and panicked for the fight to be stopped and had to be restrained from leaping out of the ring, but within a few more rounds, it turns out the other guy couldn't handle the heat either and just quit on his stool,..my obvious responce would be

    Germany???...

    well no,..

It's Mohammed Ali verses Sonny Liston ofcourse!!!![IMG] ,...a proud and well documented, legendary American fight between all-time greats.

The Chris Byrd style gave Vitali a tremendous amount of fits. Vitali was having a lot of trouble landing anything, and often times even winced and backed up when Byrd tagged him to the body with a counter.
As for Lewis, piss poor performance from him. Lewis didn't even care or respect anything Vitali brought, he just wanted to end Vitali quickly the same way his buddy Corrie did to Wlad a few months prior.

There's two things I find interesting about this post.

Most people make mention of the fact that Lewis had to adjust to fighting Vitali Klitschko on short notice after Kirk Johnson pulled out and give him the excuse that he was underprepared.

But few mention that Vitali was preparing for Razor Ruddock, not Chris Byrd....who was named as a late replacement just over a week before the fight.

That's not exactly the easiest style to take on short notice.

The second is that the Klitschko's both did something Lennox Lewis never did, and that is fight Chris Byrd...or any other southpaw, for that matter.
