That some ppl prior to last month thought Pavlik could beat Joe.

Calz would have eaten that slow bastard alive. The most intruiging thing would be the pre-fight exchanges between Jack Slow, and Enzo.

The fight itself would have only been intruiging in watching Calzaghe turn Ghost into a human everlast bag.

Yeah well, Joe could have carelessly ran straight in throwing flurries at Pavlik, only to be caught with a skull busting counter right crunch to the temple, which results in him losing consciousness. That aint impossible either, especially in light of Calzaghe's past two fights.

Pavlik is so fucking slow that I think Joe could've gotten away with showboating.

It woulda been a replica of Calzaghe-Lacy.

Well, I agree that I never thought Pavlik would've done much against Calzaghe.

It only takes one good shot in boxing,.... if Pavlik lands a Roy - Tarver 2 on Calzaghe, he becomes king of the world,.. and then you'll say things like,.. "LOL at all those who said Calzaghe would beat...:eek:ld: ....etc....etc....etc... Even an old Roy would KO Calzaghe!"...

I don't think pavlik could land

against calzaghe. Joe could run rings around pavlik. Ring around the ghost.

Well, all the credit goes to BERNARD HOPKINS who proved to everybody that Pavlik isn't in the elite level. Prior to that fight, I would've been wary about picking Joe to win easily.

Pavlik is taylor made, style-wise, for Joe's flurry and shift, counter punching style. I said it before the Hopkins fight...

Pavlik had a MUCH better chance of beating Joe than Roy. Still does. At the very least it would have been a meaningful fight between p4pers.

Just because B-Hop beats your ass doesn't mean you aren't an elite fighter, especially when your fighting him 2 divisions north of your fighting weight.

I agree with the second part of this, but Pavlik is a perfect style match for Joe. He wouldn't have much chance of beating Joe at all IMHO.

anyone who really knows boxing, and has followed Joe's career wouldn't have given Pavlik much chance at all.......for those of you who don't, and haven't......you realise this now

Kelly Pavlik could never beat Joe Calzaghe. His size and strength advantage would be completely nullifed by Joe's own size and strength. What else does that leave? I never thought Pavlik would beat Calzaghe although I did think he's decision Hops based on Bernard's previous performances.

Yeah, I completely agree with you. But at this point I'd rate anyone in the top 10 of 168 or 175 above Jones.

It's amazing, you were all over his nuts when he beat Taylor, and now that he has lost one single fight you slam him every chance you get. Whatever, man.

It's because of people like you that fighters get written off after a single defeat.

Do you remember specifically who was "all over his nuts", or is it your contention that everyone in this thread was?

Just asking since it wasn't quoted. Seemed to be a generalized.

Pavlik at 160 was arguably/probably one of the biggest punchers in the sport. That guy would have a chance against anyone, including Joe.
    .
If the power doesn't come up to 168/175, then Joe's speed, etc. would dominate Kelly, like Bernard's strategy and skills did. If the power did/does come up, then he'd be a live dog.

I'm not sure that suggesting Pavlik wouldn't beat Calzaghe means he's being "written off".

I hadn't seen enough from Pavlik before the Hopkins fight to give me any confidence in picking him over Joe.

Why? According to some, Jones won more rounds against Calzaghe than Pavlik ever would, so it's clear that Jones would win.
