What, U Thought the Voting Season was OVER after Barack Obama was Elected??:dunno:?...

After Last Saturday, there's a BIG Decision to B Made on PLANET ROY...SHOULD He or SHOULDN'T He???...

Make No Mistake, Roy Jones Jr. SHOULDN'T Fight Anymore...Sure, he Could STILL Rack Up Wins Over the Ajamu's & Hanshaw's of the World, but he WON'T Beat Any ELITE Guys...& Since he CAN'T Beat Any Elite Guys, there's NO Reason to Continue...

But the Question is, Should Roy Jones Retire NOW or Have the "Farewell Fight"???...

    Go the Oscar route...

Semi-retire, make a name for himself as a legitimate promoter (or at least legitimate front man), secure HBO dates... come back in two years, with the promise of another fight soon thereafter - only to instead pass along the date to one of his other fighters. Rinse and repeat, as he funds his company until at least 2012.

But even jokes aside, I say ROYtirement. Winning a farewell fight will only lend to increased false hope that he still one more big win left in him. Go cold turkey and focus on the promoting side, or even a return to broadcasting

    Retire.

Farewell fights are lame. It's not like an exhibition game in other sports.

What I don't get is why the hell Roy would rather just sit there getting punched instead of fighting back? I just can't understand what the hell happened to Roy. His reflexes are not shot, his right hand landed at will and his speed and power is there. He had Calzaghe hurt bad in round one and I thought he could finish right then but he just stood there and looked as a hurt Calzaghe recovered. Is his stamina just gone? I'm not so much seeing a shot Roy, but a Roy that doesn't want to fight anymore. Completetly mentally ruined. He should retire for sure. Roy would have dominated Calzaghe in his prime no doubt about it.

U Don't Believe N 1 Last "Hurrah", Whiskey???:dunno:...Ending on a POSITIVE Note, even if it's MEANINGLESS N the OVERALL Scheme of Things???...

A Farewell Fight N Pensacola, Against a Lameduck Opponent would B Nice...TEARY Eye'd Fans Sitting Ringside as Roy has 1 LAST Fancy Entrance & 1 Last Fight where he's all but GUARANTEED to Win...

Then, Roy Addresses the Crowd Immediately Afterwards & Rides Off N 2 the Sunset...

BILL It as "Roy's FAREWELL Fight" & then have him Actually LIVE UP to it...Then, 5 Years from that Moment a SHITLOAD or RJ Fans Can Meet Up N Canastota, New York (REED & Bigdawg have Been Talking about this for YEARS)for his H.O.F. Induction...

Nope, it's hard for me to be interested in one last "hurrah" when it's a boxing match. Don't get me wrong, i do enjoy the odd one sided beating.

However when somebody is thrown in there as a sacrificial lamb to make somebody else look good, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I know it happens all the time with prospects, but those are guys who are learning their craft and/or are trying to make some "noise" and look impressive.

Roy is already a rich guy as well. It's not like he's a Micky Ward type who could use a nice payday to end his career.

Also he has plenty of options still within boxing, promoting and annoucing being the most obvious.

If he announces his retirement i'm sure Pensacola can put on some kind of party for him, no need to bash in the head of some can.

Also we can be spared reading things like "If that version of Roy ..."

Yep. His just has no balls, never did. When the chips were down, Roy folded and btw that included the first Montell fight. He was getting trouble and he belted a man in the head while he knelt. He turned off mentally.

For the record. I hope Roy retires. In spite of the nut ticks saying I am a hater, I never hated Roy I just never thought he maximized his gifts. I don't take pleasure in seeing him beaten like I do with the Bastard Maker or Cheto.

I would have no problem with that, as long as it wasn't sold as him 'getting his old magic back', 'starting a new run on the title' yada yada. If he still loves fighting, he should, as long as he isn't keeping up a charade of still being world class or in danger of getting hurt.

I have to agree with you. Roy folded like a breakfast table everytime the pressure was on. The only time I think he earned some respect was in the first Tarver match. Other than that, he can't take the pressure.

    RETIRE ROY!

Roy should get the hell outta there. It's sad to watch but to me it's obvious that Roy isn't fighting to win anymore, his goal seems to be not getting knocked out. There is absolutely no killer instinct left.

I read a great article on Roy a couple days ago and the writer made a good point. When Roy was in his prime he took his skills for granted and didn't seem to want to push his limits. Now that's he's lost those skills he's desperately trying to restore his legacy with big fights he now has no chance of winning.

When a guy like Calzaghe starts dropping is hands, taunting Roy one inch from his face and Roy does NOTHING AT ALL, it's time to go. Imagine if JC tried that five years ago, he woulda been knocked into the second row.
