Both were in their primes at 168. Both dominated bums for the most part and fooled the public into thinking they were much better than they actually were.

Calzaghe has more courage. RJJ has more skills.

Who would've won if they both had had the balls to fight each other when the fight would've made sense and both fighters were at their peaks?

Jones by decision. Not a wipe out, but no controversy.

Jones by competitive, clear decision. Maybe he stops Joe late, but I think Jones's counters will make Joe more cautious then he usually is and he lasts the distance.

LOK is reading this topic. I wonder if he'll get into his disturbing shit fetish.

Roy Jones by Decision or late KO...most likely decision...9-3..8-4 at best..with Jones scoring a few knockdowns along the way..to a wide decision...

The ONLY Way Roy DOESN'T KO Calzaghe is if Calzaghe STOPS Pressuring Him...

But as Loooooooooong as Calzaghe Continues to BRING the Fight to Roy, he'll REPEATEDLY Get Caught FLUSH w/HARDER, SWIFTER & More ACCURATE Counters than he Got Hit w/Saturday Night...

After getting hit flush with counter..Calzaghe will most likely backoff..if not then he gets KO'ed...but he will win a few rounds just in activity...early.

Now is this supposed to be the clear prime or the projected clean prime?

    Roy wins a competitive fight,.. 7 - 5,..

Someone who's got the heart durability, toughness, with the stamina, workrate, accuracey, timing, and brilliant boxing IQ of Calzaghe, does not get annihilated like some fucking mismandatory scrub,... scenario's of Calzaghe being dominated and knocked out is clear temporary relief for heartbroken groupies in light of what happenned on Saturday.. it's funny,... I bet you all wouldnt DARE claim Hopkins gets dominated and KO'd if they were both in thier primes??.. why's that?.. :dunno:

i can't understand why nobody has chosen sloppy by ko - likr rjj is so durable. maybe it's because his pussy style protects him from kos.

Probably because he's not a big puncher, has never KO'd a world class fighter and didn't KO a 40 year old version of Roy that was bleeding like a stuck pig just two nights ago?

    Only a theory.

For the record these 2 would have never fought each other in their primes for the same reasons.

I have no doubt that Calzaghe would have fared much better than what his detractors say, that much is for certain.

I think it would be pretty close. Joe wouldn't sit back mesmerized by Roy's feints like 99% of his opponents, he would go to work and go to work pretty effectively. I would pick Roy to pull it out though, because he was the better fighter, but it would be a tougher fight than a prime Jones ever had.

A world class fighter wouldn't even throw combinations at him nor bring the fight with bad intentions in the first place. Letting Calzaghe lead isn't a good idea either. It would have been a great fight if these 2 werent so afraid to take the fight "across the pond" way back when.

Roy has never liked pressure. you put him up against the ropes and start poundng and he doesnt throw back. I dont think a prime cazalghe, which was much more active when he was younger would ever stop the pressure.

AgREED.. I think Roy gets him outta there late. Joe would keep coming and he would eventually get taken out of there. Joe would be competitive and make it exciting but in the process would take a beating.

Any version of Calzaghe does not go the distance with a prime Roy Jones.:nono:

I believe Roy would've won a decision. It wouldn't have been a wipeout, and quite honestly could've become very boring - either after starting out as a firefight or one that simply never gets going.

I have to respectfully disagree with anyone who claims prime vs. prime that Roy stops Joe. Roy was the perfect combination of speed and power back in the day, but Joe also put a lot more into his punches than the slapping version most have become familiar with in recent years.

The argument seems to be that had they fought any time prior to 2001, Joe Calzaghe is just another fighter at the end of the day. But why can't it also be argued that, had they fought back then, perhaps we find out a lot sooner what Roy's chin is made of and, more importantly, how he'd handle adversity.

in other words, RJJ's invincibiity, then and now, has always been a myth, creatd by careful match-making and his amazing hand-speed that intimidated most of the putz's he fought.
