    Dear Joe,

Congratulations on your win over Roy Jones last Saturday night. I’m happy to see that you’re finally getting some overdue credit, and now that you’ve accomplished what you wanted to against Jones and Bernard Hopkins, I think it’s time for you and I to settle some unfinished business.

I’m sure you remember, but if you don’t, you previously agreed to fight me three times in the past, yet all three times you pulled out of the fight due to injury and we never had the opportunity to give the fans the fight they were all waiting to see.

Call me crazy, but Joe sees something in Johnson's style he doesn't like - the fact that he has courage, applies pressure, is durable and will gladly trade even given a handspeed deficit. These are the types of fighters you will never see Sloppy fight.

That's what I thought before his fight with Lacy,.. it turns out he was, and I quote several around at the time "Made to order for Calzaghe"..

Sounds like you just described both Kessler and Lacy. :dunno:

Johnson is much craftier than Lacy, doesn't load up like him, and will be less susceptible to Joe's clinching.

Lacy yielded almost everytime Joe initiated a clinch and as a result could only ever land one punch at a time if at all. And the clinches were broken immediately so that Joe could return immediately to fighting from the outside where his faster feet and hands were befuddling to Lacy.

Sloppy vs. Lacy is a perfect example of how a referee can potentially determine the outcome of a fight. Not saying Lacy would've won in any case - he probably would not have.

A perfect example is Paulie vs. Ndou.

Everytime N'dou got close Paulie tied him up, and paid no price for it either because the referee immediately broke them up. So Ndou, much like Lacy, could only ever get off with one punch at a time if at all.

We all know Ndou is a tougher and better fighter than Paulie. Just compare his fight with Cotto to Paulie's. And that's why the fight was refereed the way it was.

Except that Kessler and Lacy aren't busy, are relatively inexperienced especially at the pro level, and in Lacy's case his entire inside game was robbed from him by the referee.

Joe beat Kessler primarily with foot-work and hand-speed. Had Kessler been busier and stayed closer (not too close so as to be tied up but mid distance the way Johnson would), he would've had more success. And let's not forget, Sloppy/Kessler was a pretty close fight anyways.

i've seen 5 rounds of the dawson/johnson fight

the first 2 rounds and the last 3. Out of those 5 rounds i gave chad dawon 4. Did Johnson win the middle rounds because if he didn't then there was no way that fight was close.

Calzaghe would have an easy, easy time against Glen. He might lose 3 rounds on a bad night. He'd beat Johnson 10-2 most likely. DoubleL predicting Johnson means Johnson might get killed.

I'd pick Calzaghe to beat Glen but I wouldn't advise him take on this fight

Actually I think the intangibles mean something here. Johnson has no more skills than a lot of good fighters... He is a good fighter who is gifted with a certain property of persistance that allows him to compete with the best. I honestly think he is quite correct when he says that he is not the best but he beats the best.

The difference between Glen and lacy is this quality and confidance in this quality of persistance that Glen has. If he fights Joe it will be a battle. Glen also has a great beard BTW better than lacy and Kessler. And he won't puss out like the Dane either.

It would be a good fight and Glencoffe would do suprisngly well. If Margarito is smart he will develop into the type of fighter that Glencoffe has.

idk Kimosabe, we were talking about this during the Roy fight, and if calzaghe has slowed to the extent that you have said, if he really is "shot" then a guy like Johnson at this stage in his career could be a serious problem.

if johnson hasn't regressed since the dawson fight, this would be a tough physical fight for calzaghe.

calzaghe wins, but he wouldn't leave w/o any scratches on his face.

silly attempt by johnson though, this fight never happens.
