1. Does Lacy know how to throw a straight right hand 2. Does Taylor know how to do anything but hold if his opponent gets close? 3. Was Taylor knocked down or not? By the way, Lacy has an excellent chin. As long as he retains that, he can build on his experience and become a better fighter. Clearly, he needs to get rid of Bloodworth.
Lacy doesn´t have a great chin anymore, Taylor is just so sloppy and not very powerful. If you put him in with guys like Kessler, Pavlik or Abraham, who are I´d be shocked if he saw the 7th round.
Taylor landed several clean as ice upper-cuts and right hands to the chin - punches the prospect of which tamed Hopkins into fighting two bitch fights in a row. Lacy has a good chin. He just needs to fight fire with fire - when he gets tied up, he needs to push his man off and throw his left hook which is still a thing of beauty. The refree warns him for pushing? Tell the ref to stop letting his opponent tie him up - it's illegal. Lacy reall needs to straighten that tight hand out - he gets beat to the punch evrytime because he loops it so much. And his jab could use some work.
With a proper trainer do you think Lacy could beat that Welsh clinching master who out-stinked him last time?
I didn't say that. But he didn't hold Taylor after every punch he threw. And it certainly wasn't part of hid strategy. Taylor straight up doesn't know how to fight inside. That's why he'll always beat someone shorter than him and it[s why he fought 154 pounders for most of his career. What I don't understand is why Hoplins was so afraid of Taylor. Seemed like he lost on purpose.
The grand plan HBO had, even before the Lacy fight, is for Taylor to ight Calzaghe. Could be an interesting fight. Both guys do "something" that spooks Hopkins. Maybe it will become apparent if and when they fight.
Well, Taylor's with Haymon and Calzaghe's basically with Golden Boy...so what's not to love about that fight?
I agree HBO was hoping for that, but Taylor had to look more impressive to create any kind if demand for that fight. A lot of other forums members felt the same.
1. Not ACCURATELY...But Lacy @ Least ATTEMPTED Straight Right Hand COUNTERS Over Taylor's Jab... 2. Yes...4 for 1st Time N a Loooooooooong Time (Perhaps EVER), Taylor Used UPPERCUTS Effectively... 3. It was Probably a Knockdown N the LITERAL Sense, but it's NOT Like Lacy's Punch WEAKENED Taylor's Legs...The Shot Hit his SHOULDER & MAYBE Grazed his Head... REED:mj:
Demand for it? Taylor's had one fight a 168 and the next person I meet that thinks he's the best at that weight will be the first...and that's still a division below Calzaghe. Any talk of Calzaghe-Taylor at this point is beyond manufactured. It would be a fight made purely of convenience.
I know it's manufactured. I'm just saying if Taylor went out and waxed Lacy he could at least had his name in the mix.
Lacy needed Kevin Rooney at the beginning of his career. Taylor is helpless... So long nobody can teach him anything, he clearly lacks discipline to learn something new. Altough you could see that he's throwing more compact punches...
