Pound 4 Pound lists are nothing more than favorites lists these days, that being said Faber got Jorrin'ed.
At least Faber went down fighting. I lost all respect for Filho with that non effort. That was pathetic. TFK
So you know all this and you don´t inform the president of the MMA underdog betting committee? :shit::shit:
I agree with the first sentence. Faber was trying to do some bullshit elbow pro wrestling move. Admittedly, it would have kicked ass if it had worked, but he paid the price for the attempt in a big way. Can't say Faber is so much better than Brown, though. Brown looked like he was a lot stronger and looked like he was ready to take advantage of that. We'll see in the inevitiable rematch. I don't check out the mma section too often, but I really like Miguel Torres and would have ranked him above Faber. Top 5? I don't know, but when I've seen him fight, he really knows what he is doing...despite the less than impressive performance on WEC last time.
Torres is the man. He's my favorite "small guy" in MMA. I wish more promotions would feature the 135-145 guys. Unlike boxing, with the little 4oz gloves the small guys can still knock eachother out.
More 'Anderson Silva' than 'Pro Wrestling. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OSRSZoslPZI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OSRSZoslPZI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> TFK
I agree with you. Brown was clearly very strong, and even though Faber was aggressive as usual, he wasn't able to dominate Brown at all, or inflict any damage, due to Brown's strength and sturdiness. Without doubt, Faber was being a cocky idiot and got caught. But given ow the fight was playing out even before that, you'd have to be a moron to think Faber beats Brown 9/10. I say the rematch is a pick em fight. I was glad to see the little surfer goon get KO'd though. I've never liked him. He can fight, but he was overrated without a doubt. It was indeed telling that Faber threw everything at Pulver and wasn't able to KO him. Garcia KO'd the same Pulver in about a minute. What about Filho? Jesus, he was even more overrated, people were acting like he was a top middleweight. What was up with him? What a useless, pathetic sack of shit he was, he did fuck all, just rolled around on his back and took punches.
Just got back from Chicago and had a chance to watch the WEC card. I was shocked by how bad Paulo looked. The dude has clearly fucked himself up with weight, drugs, etc. It's ashame too, because if that was the first time someone got a chance to see Filho they wouldn't understand that the guy used to be an animal. I was also shocked that Faber looked weak against Brown. I've seen Brown fight multiple times and knew that he was a strong, strong cat, but it was amazing how he shook off Faber's clinches. I am looking forward to a rematch and I hope it happens. I was talking to my buddy who used my tickets, and he said the Cerrone-McCullough fight was the best of the night with Cerrone winning via UD. Too bad they didn't get to show that during the broadcast. I'm sure Varner-Cerrone will be a main event down the road somewhere.
Agreed, that was not Paulo Filho in there that night. He clearly wasn't interested in the fight because he didn't make weight and when the fight started,he was unfocused and didn't give a shit.He hasn't recovered at all from his outside problems
You must've seen Brown in person multiple times? I record a lot of mma and didn't have him on video. Maybe I've missed his shows?
I've only seen him once in person. That card was actually what made me start paying more attention to MMA. But I have also seen quite a bit of video. I know the Curran fight was a WEC event that everyone has probably seen, but Brown is also represented pretty well on You Tube. One of things about being a relatively new MMA fan is that I've had to do alot of catching up. I've watched anything and everything I can find over the last couple years.
Versus is REPLAYING this Fight Card Tonight, for those that MISSED it's Original Broadcast (like REED)... REED:mj:
It ran long originally so Tivo the show after as well. I missed the interviews and replays. I wanted to see what Faber had to say.
Faber Took it like a Man, Didn't Make ANY Excuses...Said he just "Got Caught" and was Looking Forward to Getting his Belt Back... That was a PERFECTLY Timed, Perfectly PLACED Shot that Faber Got Caught w/...Almost FLUKISH...Faber WASN'T Even Looking @ Brown when he Threw the Elbow & then he Got DECLEATED::... But Faber WAS Losing the Round Up to that Point...Brown was Clearly STRONGER & had Already Gotten Faber's Attention w/a Couple Earlier Shots... Faber CAN Beat Brown...He'll have to Rely on SPEED & QUICK Strikes...He WON'T B Able to OUTMAN Brown... To REED, Faber's Body WASN'T as Toned as it Normally is...But what ULTIMATELY Contributed to his Loss was the Fact that he CUT his Hair... Urijah "Samson" Faber... REED::
He looked bad and something was very wrong with him, but he was also losing to Sonnen in the first fight before he got the sub. Sonnen will always make him look bad, especially if the fight never hits the ground.
great post:bears: If it wasn't completely obvious to everyone that he was deathly afraid to stand up with Sonnen I don't know what else to say. He should have had points taken away when he wouldn't get up.
anyone rating faber in the top 5 p4p are people who are easily suckered. not cause the broadcaster were telling it that it make it true. When you,re best victory is over jens pulver you know you're level of opp is not that good Fedor silva penn gsp jz kid akiyama rampage moussasi nog were all easily more accomplished and better fighters
Not much debate about that at all. Unfortunately this was NOT a Lifetime Achievement Top 5. It was a monthly P4P. Prior to losing to Brown, Faber was undefeated at 155 pounds for 13 fights over 3 years. He owned the weight division unlike almost anyone you listed.
I don't think p4p should be a flavor of the month thing. And He never cleared nor ruled the feather. Kid was around the same weight. and they're is a lot of good feather in japan.
Again no debate from me about the merit of Kid Yamamoto. But while Yamamoto was on the shelf, Faber easily handled Jens Pulver. And maybe P4P shouldn't be done monthly, but that's what it was. And in that particular month, Faber was on a 13 fight win streak in which no one (until Pulver) made it beyond the second round. Bottom line, right or wrong, I gave the guy a ton of credit for the streak. It doesn't happen often in MMA especially while holding a belt for most of it.
but the thing is that it was over pretty crappy opp. His best opponenet was probably menjivar, and he vwon by dq. After this it's curran, whos'a a B fighter at best
I think Yamamoto is pretty good actually. In fact, from what I've seen I'd pick him over Faber. He's solid. Faber is not as strong and more fragile than he looks. Faber LOOKS solid, good physique, chunky neck etc, but he is not quite as strong as he looks, or as durable. Brown was clearly the stronger man, and the more durable man too. Faber couldn't even stop Pulver, who got Pulverised in his next fight. I think Yamamoto would beat the shit out of Faber, similar to Griffin - Faber.
Most good 155ers are going to be too much for Faber. He's not even a big 145er. The guy is tiny. He needs to stay at 145 and never move up.
Yeah, I said undefeated at 155. Obviously I meant 145. I agree with you about him being too small for 155. However, I think at 145, he can be as strong as anyone he faces.
