The Cotto fight was more deserving of a stoppage than this Hatton fight. Malignaggi should be pissed, and probably wont be working with Mcgirt anymore.

I suppose this mean we are going to see Hatton-DLH.

Other than stamina Ricky has no advantage over Oscar. He'll get beaten up and schooled.

Mallignagi impressed me once, his title winning effort vs Ndou. All his others subsequent fights he was pathetic, probably lost vs Ngdoujo, barely scrapped by Ndou in the rematch and the pathetic performance tonight. If you don't box with him and don't respect his power ( not hard to do considering his lack of power ) he can do no better than to make an ugly clinching mauling, and especially, boring fight

I see it more as mcgirt throwing the towel cause he was soo disapointed in paulie. It make him look bad that his fighter looked so out of place in a ring. He threw the towel to save his rep

I'd be with you but you just can't ignore Hatton's track record over 140.

I'm happy that he has a ko loss for the shit he put us through tonight, but I see why he was upset for McGirt throwing the towel, he wasn't hurt at all when it was stopped and he fought to survive since the 3rd, it was obviously his goal to go the distance and his corner should have let at least have this ''victory''.
Very dissapointing, I kind of liked Mallignaggi before but it's kind of hard to like him after his last ugly performances ( especially tonight of course ).

    Paulie is a shocker

how did he keep getting hit by jabs and wide left hooks when Hatton was coming in? Hatton only comes in with those 2 punches

some of those hooks were wide as hell too....guys reflexes really suck

Brian Vera was as bad as he was vs Lee, only that Kirkland didn't ran out of gas. Both looked like shit ( especially Vera of course but he is shit, thought he has a huge heart and all my respect for that )

Hatton actually warns his left up with his right hand before he's about to lunge in with it.

Anybody see any difference in Hatton under Mayweather's training?

Only thing I noticed was that he had a guy who can barely talk kneeling in front of him in between rounds...

I guess he didn't initiate holding as much - but Paulie can't punch so he could afford to allow him a chance to punch.

I really don't want to see Hatton go up above 140 any more but I'd give him a good chance against an old DLH. DLH has talked about fighting big fights overseas. Fights were tentatively planned in Japan and United Arab Emirates and both fell through. I think he'd entertain the thought of fighting in Manchester or London.

DLH would counter hook Hatton to death

i don't see why DLH would want to fight out of the U$ though :dunno:

De la Hoya would KO Hatton whenever he feels like it.

I think Hatton either fight another lower level guy and call it quits or else fight DLH and get stopped and retire

Pretty much. Oscar's jab would bust up Ricky something fierce, never mind the left hook.

For a guy that supposed to be so slick, Paulie sure gets hit alot. Hatton hit him with his entire arsenal tonight. Jabs, straight rights, hooks, uppercuts, bodyshots. Part of Paulie's problem is he has no power. His defense is AVERAGE at best.

Hatton would have a chance against Oscar because of Oscar's age. I think De La Hoya has slowed down enough to make it a competitive fight. I think the fight wit Pacquiao will be competitive though De La Hoya should walk away with a win.

Prime De La Hoya, circa 1998-2000 mops the floor with Hatton and Pacquiao on the same night.

Indeed. The first HBO fight in a while that didn't feature a completely dead atmosphere.

in the post-fight interview, ricky seemed to say "the newly-unretired floyd mayweatheer jr". the bbc commentators made something of it, since ricky'd know about floyd unretiring, through floyd sr.

first time ive heard malignaggi speak... he sounded like woody allen, neurotic and verbose. he fought like woody allen too.
