Cotto couldn't make the weight and subsequently had a dodgy chin and stamina. Hatton would have killed him. Hatton should be given a lot of credit with the way he dismantled and beat up his nearest rival at 140. He is unbeaten at the weight, nobody has come close.
No, he is not "invincibe". I don't buy fighters being "invincibe". Everyone is beatable. Different times, different situations, judges, etc..prevents some guys from ever losing until they're old (or at all), but they're all beatable.
Of course he is beatable but you gotta agree he just tore apart his nearest rival making him the man!
Why was Herman Ngoudjo's bitch Hatton's biggest threat? :dunno: Tim Bradley is pretty clearly that guy and has been since he turned Hatton's shadow into a girl.
malignaggi is a top 10 super lightweight. that is it. he has done nothing to prove himself as anything more. would malignaggi beat bailey?
Yeah. O.K -As an Aussie I am contractually obliged to mention that every time I "contribute" to a Hatton thread. (It's part of our citizenship test-otherwise I get deported) Edit: Prime Zoo would have stopped Hatton (Phew that was close...)
No, Hatton is far from invincible at 140 though I would certainly agree that, until someone beats him there, he remains at the head of the division. Hatton, as I have said elsewhere, is declining, and it is a measure of the poor state of 140 that he would still start as favourite against anyone else in that division, including Bradley, who it appears is the next big thing after beating, well, Junior friggin Witter... :cheer: Personally, I think Kotelnik would give Hatton a tough night's work- he has a very crafty, counter punching style that might just make Ricky pay for his recent habit of coming in straight and lacking head movement. Still wouldn't pick him to win, mind... MTF
That would be a good fight. ray: Any unification is good, but for some odd reason Sulaiman said he won´t allow Bradley to put his title on the line against the winner of Holt/Torres.
hatton vs. holt, bradley would be toss ups. i'd probably pick hatton to win ugly on points, especially vs. bradley since he doesn't punch all that hard and hatton would be just as strong if not stronger. holt would fight scared imo, but he does hit hard enough to knock hatton out.
Torres has the power to KO Hatton I think, but he'd probably still be overwhelmed and beaten by decision. But if Hatton traded with Torres, I could easily see him get hit with something that changes the fight and gives Torres the chance to win.
Hatton may not be invicincible, but there are no 140lb-ers who have more strength than he does. None. Bradley doesn't even come close IMHO. Holt has enough power to hurt Ricky, but I'm not sure if he has enough power to KO him. Ditto Torres. As much as Hatton's punch resistance has faded as his decline continues, precious few 140lb-ers have had him genuinely hurt. In fact, the only two times he has genuinely been in real trouble were vs Collazo and Floyd at 147; Lazcarno had him hurt in spots, Thaxton cut him and traded with him back in the day and Magee scored a flash KD, but not even flush short right hands from Kostya looked likely to knock him out... MTF :dunno:
Plus Holt´s chin is made of glass. It´s more likely Hatton knocks him out than the other way around. Not sure Holt even gets past Torres without knocking him unconscious with another headbutt.
...he's not unbeatable but at 140 he is probably one of the most dominant champions in the sport....at 147 he is far less fearsome i haven't seen a great deal of Bradley or Holt, but from what i have, i don't see the slickness or strength required to beat Hatton at 140.....Torres has a punchers chance
Is Hatton unbeatable at 140?? He look pretty beatable vs. OLD SHOT Lazcano...he look great against Malignaggi...but like we all know the guy can't punch for shit... Hatton was still getting hit with the check hook/right hands from Malignaggi..but since they had no effect on him he would just keep on coming.... vs. Bradley/Holt/Torres he will feel those punches....HATTON is still the fav. to beat those guys...but it won't be easy...
One of the most dominant? Based on what? The strength of his resume is largely based on his win over Tszyu. Outside of that, it's not like there's that much there...not for a fighter who's supposedly "dominant" in a weight class.
Hatton is indeed a bad man at 140. His cut to that weight makes him stronger than most light welters that he will face. However, being a beast at 140 right now is like being the hottest hooker in Great Falls, Montana. It ain't that difficult without any real competition. Seriously, does anyone outside the hardcore boxing world care about Hatton-Bradley or Hatton-Kotelnik? The money and fame are 7 pounds north where Cotto, Margarito, Mosely, Clottey, Berto, etc. hang out. And unfortunately Ricky knows he can't go there. His only hope is that Manny or Marquez stop by 140 for a visit somewhere down the road.
Hatton would fucking kill Zab Judah...even this version of Hatton And I do literally mean kill him... MTF
