According to Btalk they just went to purse bid for this fight. I have a hard time believing Cintron has the balls to climb in the ring with Clottey. Cintron is going to get destroyed if he takes this fight, he's way to soft to be going up against a guy as durable and as hard to hit as Clottey.

The only reason I'd see Kermit passing on this fight if it were some ridiculously low purse bid, which is entirely possible, considering it's Clottey in the other corner. Beyond that, I don't see why he'd shy away from this or any other fight.

Perhaps something can be said of his not fighting Paul Williams when he had the chance, but he was injured and forced to withdraw, and re-injured his hand to where he was wearing a cast for two months after the Margarito rematch.

Kermit's mentally fragile, but I still see more fighters shying away from him than the opposite has proven to be true.

Agreed. Not only that, LB4LB is out of his mind. Clottey fucking sucks. Sloths make fun of him for being LAZY. Clottey is easily one of my least favorite fighters. The guy shouldn't be on tv. He couldn't even intimidate Zab fucking Judah who is the only fighter weaker mentally than Cintron. . Cintron lost to Margarito. A strong volume puncher who is relentless. Clottey is a sloth who throws 25 punches a round and sticks his arms up like lazy version of Mickey Ward. The price bid should be low. Clottey is cancer to the eyes and I for one will never go out of my way to watch the shitbag fight.

personally I'd like to see it. I'm a fan of both fighters and I still hope Cintron becomes champ one day. he is very exciting and his style of fighting is entertaining.

i wish Williams/Cintron had happened. Williams would've been open all night for Cintron's hellacious right hand. You never know what the outcome might have been.

If anyone's going to beat Williams, especially at 147, it will be by knocking his azz out. Can't think of too many guys at 147 more qualified to do that than Cintron.

Agreed. Cintron would have been a live dog against Tall Paul because of Paul's lack of D. Though overall.. I think Williams is just too tough, both mentally and physically for Cintron and would have wore him down.

Paul does seem to have a helluva chin for a guy with his frame. And stamina too. You'd expect his legs to go late in fights, you'd expect him to be knocked out by the likes of Margarito, and oddly enough, you'd expect him to punch harder than he apparently does. He's a bit of an enigma but not one I expect to see lose anytime soon.

His height protects him against Tony's deadly upper-cuts.

I really want to see that rematch. I think if Tony worked the body with abandon he could win. Then we'd have a trilogy on our hands and some serious action at 147.

Clottey has mad skills. More skills then Kermit but it's still a good fight for both with AM and MC tied up until their rematch.

that's ridiculous to say that Clottey has mad skills. he's a good fighter and his Wrightesque defense makes him tough to hit, but mad skills?

if anything Kermit has the better skills. he just isn't as tough which is why he'll probably lose.

If the fight is signed, props to Cintron for his willingness to take on dangerous fighters liek Margarito and Clottey, aka the "irrelevants". :partie:

Actually Clottey is a pretty seasoned fighter. He's not only tough and talented but also very skilled. Most people on this board tend to hate on him, but I don't care. I like him, most don't. Who cares, to each his own but it is not ridiculous to say a guy with good skills has mad skills.

One thing I will say to Freeike just to correct him when he says Clottey couldn't even deter the mentally weak Judah. He must have forgotten how Judah pulled a Camacho Jr by pretending he couldn't see so he could get out of that ass beating.

I like Clottey. I think he can get too selective sometimes with his punches, but he's very strong and with that defense (and what seems like a pretty good chin) he's tough to discourage. He's 12 rounds of a tough fight for just about any welterweight that I can see.

True, but even then he only did that rematch because he had convinced himself he was pretty good by beating up a bunch of mediocre fighters. The Margarito rematch should have reaffirmed to him how mediocre he himself is.

Bottom line: Cintron is not an elite 147 lber, Clottey is.

LOL. Zab is a 140lber and I never considered him elite at 147 except when he was champ.
