I feel sorry for Oscar. I wish his corner would have let him try to finish the fight...give him a chance to turn the fight around with one haymaker.

Okay, it wasn't going to happen but I wanted to see Pac put Oscar down like a rabid dog.

No. He's a boxer and he gets paid a lot more than any other boxer in the world.

It actually wasn't that bad of a beating. He just got humiliated cause he couldn't do anything about it and Pacquiao was so much smaller.

Also, I don't make it a habit of feeling sorry for famous millionaires.

I'm just talking about on a human level. Yeah, Oscar is loaded, but he was a pretty defeated man yesterday. His face said it all.

Sorry but DLH/Hopkins was shady let alone boring as f*ck. THAT was a rip off! Then they're suddenly business partners the next day! F*cking joke!
You're right though, nobody forces one to buy a ppv but at the very least, it's the responsibility of the performers to give us what we pay for rather than stealing our money which is what guys like Tyson did for so many years.

Money was Ray Robinson's main motivator. Listen to the interviews of him or his sister and they articulate this. And he's considered the greatest ever.

    Doesn't really matter.

He fought primarily for the money and became the greatest ever.

Michael Spinks fought primarily for the money. He went back to boxing after the Olympics because he was a terrible janitor, and not getting paid that much. He became one of the greatest light-heavyweights ever, and the HW champ.

Probably just depends on the fighter.

You are missing the point Spinks could fight,

9/10 guys that make it to the top of their sport do so out of desire and a passion for the game.

    Of course he could fight.

If you can't fight, if you don't have talent, you can have the greatest work ethic ever and live and die for boxing, but you won't reach the top.

And you could have all the talent in the world and still end up sweeping the streets.

So if a dude is making money that in some way makes him exempt.

IMO it is always sad to watch a guy in the twilight of his career getting spanked like that.

well he's in a better position than maybe 99.5% of people in the world?

so there are at least 6.5 billion other people in the world that we should feel more sorry for

There's a difference between it being sad and having sympathy for him.

I agree that it's usually sad watching a shot fighter, who used to be an excellent fighter, get destroyed.

As for feeling sorry for him, though, that's different. DLH is probably the boxer I'd least feel sorry for. Most fighters get paid squat, many end up with brain damage. DLH appears to be healthy, is incredibly wealthy, and has a future as a huge, huge player in the sport.
