Thank you. I'm not happy with the fight photos, I was was in a far FAR away place for the fight. I shoot a Nikon D200 (very noisy at high ISO) and a Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 lens with 1.4 teleconverter for these auxiliary positions. I was in the last row to the ceiling, literaly. Even at 400mm, it was very short.
No worries, that new diamond ring and bracelet worth about $5 million a piece will comfort her very well I'm sure.
ah, which one to use as my new avatar? But yo, good stuff Ray. I can understand your being displeased with the pics (and more so, where they stuck you for the fight), but I think you do a great job of capturing key moments. Keep it up.
I was hoping to see Oscar at the post-fight press conference. It would have made for a great photo op. The beat-up faces look great in black and white.
Haymaker, thanks for the positive support. I am very picky when it comes to my own work. The D200 camera body I use is noisy when underexposed and comes through in the high-res images. Can't wait for UFC 92 in a few weeks!!!
Wow, Oscar looks emaciated in those pics. It didn't look like that watching it on TV. It reminds of what Angelo Dundee said when Ali weighed in at a trim 217 for his fight with Holmes, "Light ain't right". That seems way to small for Oscar at his advantaged age. He's weak and soft.
... Oscar should have read The Dummies Guide to Boxing before stepping into the ring for this one ...
Looks like you were hamstrung by your position. Must be hard to take a good frame so far away. Did you consider renting a 400 mm? Do you ever shoot any fan feature stuff?
From this position, a 600mm f/2.8 would have been perfect. These were shot with a 300mm f/2.8 with 1.4 teleconverter. I do have a 2x teleconverter but it takes the aperture to f/5.6. I don't know of any places in Las Vegas that rent lenses. I would have gone with a 400mm f/2.8 or greater. Shoot fan feature stuff??
