Nog was less than a shell of himself out there tonight, perhaps Mir's southpaw striking was too much to figure out, but like you said Nog simply could not pull the trigger at all. Sad to see indeed.

Yep the beatings over the years have taking a toll on him and he can hardly see out of one of eyes on top of that.I just hate seeing a great fighter and man go through that

yep, he was slow slow slow. a far cry from the fighter who subbed coleman and goodridge. in those time, his subs were insanely quick. His body and face looked like shit also.

I called it to the guys in the room after round 1. Noguira is physically finished. The extended layoff didn't help either as he looked very soft in the belly but more than that, his speed and reflexes are that of a 52 year old. Far cry from the warrior of 2002. This win by Mir is meaningless in my book. It's just another case of an overrated win which Mir will try to milk from here onward. Not ready to make prediction on Lesnar/Mir II yet.

It was rough to say the least. Nogueira took a prime Crocop's best and kept going. Tonight Mir looked like he was 5 gears faster. Big Nog should retire and keep his dignity. He's still one of the very best ever in MMA.

Noguira isn't convinced yet. He's going to blame this loss on the layoff among other things.

It was his first stoppage in what, 40 something fights?

I know in MMA, fighters tend to lose it overnight (Liddell, Wandy, Hughes, etc) but I'm willing to give Nog another shot. Mir was just the better fighter who fought the better fight tonight.

No you haven't. Your posts are that of somebody who briefed through a few clips on YouTube. I don't think you really know what Noguira was in his peak. And what we saw tonight was a man nearly on his deathbed. Pitiful. Mir exploited a dead person.

No disrespect for Mir,...who came in in peak condition and was as good as ever.

    But Nog wasn't Nog.

Damn he looks bad for his age.

Nog was wobbly as hell when he stood up too. He's taken a lot of abuse.

Both Nog and Silva should hang them up, but I doubt either of them will right now. The fights were difficult to predict, both have taken such extreme beatings in the past. They've both been past it for probably a few fights now, whether they won them or lost them. I'm not discrediting either Mir or Rampage, they both fought very well. I just think that most fans have been expecting this from both fighters for a while now.

God were Nog and Silvya pathetic, it's been a while that I noticed that Nog was slipping ( BYG, you jumped on me and Valdosta when we said it after the Sylvia fight ) but saturday, he looked like poor garbage. It's not like if Mir was extraordinary too, he kept doing the same combo over and over agains and Nog, couldn't get out of the way to save his life. Sure he never had the best defense, in fact it was always it's main flaw, but this time, it was completely ridiculous. What was even more shocking is that every time Mir hit him it seemed to shock him. Don't get me wrong, Mir put a very good performance, but I don't feel quite as good as Rogan and most think. His standup was quite wide ( many countering opportunities ), predictable and quite sloppy, what really impressed me was how easilly he took down Nog the lone time he tried. I think Lesnar will win the rematch

I'm not even a big nog fan, in fact I just don't really like BJJ fighters, but this Nog was utterly shot. You could see it in his 2 previous fights too.

A massive difference from the nog of 4 or 5 years ago.

completely agree, I actually had this thought in his fight with Herring in the UFC. He looked shy to pull the trigger then, Herring just has no ground game and got sub'd. Nog will still be dangerous in a very shallow UFC division. But his days of being an elite HW are done.

I know talking in retrospect is unfair, but when you think about it Nog was badly hurt by both Herring and Silvia so the fact that Mir hurt him shouldn't be such a shock.

What made this fight different is, as TFK pointed out, Mir didn't follow him to the ground which is where Nog always recuperates.
