Who wins this matchup? Ortiz was as technically good as any fighter theres been. Threw every punch in the book great, could fight on the inside as well as box from the outside. And we all know about Chavez. And of course Julio butchered Ortiz's countryman Rosario, but Ortiz was a different calibre fighter than Rosario.
Nice contrast of styles. I haven't seen enough of Ortiz to say. I've downloaded some of his fights but have to get around to watching them.
Chavez woul've been too strong. He'd have Ortiz figured out about halfway through. My guess is he stops him. Chavez was an absolute monster @135.
Chavez by decision Ortiz was too tough and crafty to get stopped, and he would box Chavez, the way he boxed Joe Brown, look out for the straight right (which contrary to popular opinion, was in fact Chavez's best punch) and fight a smart defensive fight... the problem is that he isn't fast enough with his combos (ala Mel Taylor) to batttle Chavez at close range, nor is he elusive enough defensively (Whitaker) to just box him and safely avoid trading, nor does he have the pop (Rosario) to get Chavez's respect. He's good at a lot but not good enough at any one thing to stymie JCC. I think he has the skills to win some early rounds but is eventually forced into defeat by the pressure of Chavez and a consistent body attack pushing him back.
is that a Ratel in your avatar? Book of World Records lists it (aka honey Badger) as the bravest animal in the kingdom.
You are on the right track, it is a Wolverine, the big brother of Badgers Double, what are you doing now that Castillo is no longer a factor in boxing? ::::
Haven't you heard? Andrade has been officially proclaimed as the new Castillo, or at least an Interim Castillo
