The two 7th round "one-punch wonders" who both put a scare into Larry Holmes with single shots.

    Who wins??

Shavers was way, way better and more accomplished so, him. Although he was inconsistent as fuck, so you wouldn't bet your house on it.

Snipes developed a reputation as a big puncher due to early career knockouts and the massive shot that made Holmes look retarded for about a minute. But in reality, Snipes wasn't nearly as effective as a power puncher as his reputation might make you think.

On the other hand, Earnie Shavers was the real deal when it came to power punching. He could bang as well as anyone before or since. In any fight Shavers was in, even his loses, there was always at least one "OH" moment where Shavers landed a big punch and the crowd went "OH".

I think this fight would consist of 2 or 3 brutal rounds with both guys getting tagged. I think Shavers was clearly more likely to stop Snipes than the other way around.

    Shavers KO 3

Good post. But I also think if the fight didn't end early, Snipes might just outlast Shavers and score a late TKO or sloppy decision.

Could go either way because of Ernie's chinny chin chin.

I'd say Shavers KO 2 but if Snipes were to survive the early onslaught he would probably take Shavers out in the middle rounds.

A prime Earnie Shavers shouldn't be favored over today's version of Lamon Brewster. He was bad

You gotta be kidding me. Shavers would have sent Bumster to an early grave. Lame-on Bumster is TERRIBLE, and always has been. At least Shavers never lost to Cliff Ettiene, and Charles Shufford. If Shavers made a comeback today, I'd give him a 50-50 chance with Bumster. Thats how bad Lame-on is.

    Earnie shavers has incredible power.

That is all. He is a slow, chinny, extremely limited guy. He has the "punchers chance" against anyone, but I wouldn't pick him over pinklon thomas

Bingo, if you can survive against Shavers and can hit back with halfway-decent pop you can stop him... but you have got to survive first!! That is a big IF

I like Shavers to get to Snipes first
