Although Mosley appeared to be a phenom at welter we have to put things into perspective. His win against Oscar was great, but De La Hoya also fought in a manner that gave Shane his best chance at winning. After that he KO'd some no-hopers and then go thrashed by Forrest. Guys like Vernon and Winky were able to shut down Mosley with simple jab and side step tactics. Although smaller, Whitaker had a better jab than either and also better footwork. I think it's a close fight after the first 6 rounds but Whitaker has figured out Shane by that point and starts to pull away.
as much as I love Pea.. if we are talking about if they fought next weekend.. SHane would put Pea to sleep for sure
Shit, that's an INTERESTING fight! I'd really have to think about this one. But if I had to pick a colour as the wheel spun I'd probably plump with Sweet Pea. Mosley sucks going forward, IMO and the moderate lateral movement Winky and Oscar (rematch) showed him seemed to perplex him pretty bad. Fighting Whitaker was like drying to grab hold of a wriggling greased salmon. Mosley had the hand speed to help him, but his footwork & boxing brain weren't quite up to the task. If Mosley would use his brain (slim chance) and not fall into the role of pursuer he might be able to win, but he loved to brawl too much and Pernel would see him coming.
pea is just too far out of the game.. he was on coke for years.. his body has deterioated and Shane would straight up MAUL him prolly a KO in the 2nd round.. which is sad..
