What's the deal with him? No one seems to want to fight him.

Williams just Needs to Keep FIGHTING...

His Last 10 or So Fights have been TELEVISED, so things COULD B WORSE...Just Keeping Fighting the Best Available Guys...If ELITE Guys "Duck" U, Go After the Guys UNDER them...If those Guys DON'T Bite, Go for the Guys Under them...

Even Margarito EVENTUALLY Got his BIG Fight w/Cotto...For as Much as REED CRITICIZES Margarito, U've Got to Admire his PATIENCE & PERSISTENCE...

    ^^^^^^^^
Thought Williams need to make up his mind in which division he wants to fight in....floating around between 147,154 & 160 is BULLSHIT.

He seem to be desperate for that big money fight....fighting Pavlik is a sure defeat and Winky seem like a lose lose situation...so you beat Winky want you gain? No leverage vs. the Welter...and no increase in fan base...

I agree, but i think Illu's point about sticking to a weight class is a valid one. I suppose it's easier to make fights when you have more weight classes to choose from, but that will catch up with him.

Welterweight is stacked and he already has wins over a few of the top contenders. He should concentrate there.

If things don't work out at 147 it's clear he can move up any time.

I think he should go after Vernon Forrest at 154. He can outwork Forrest IMO.

Paul Williams doesn't interest me until he gets a clue of who he is and where he stands.

I don't give a damn what weight, the man is fun to watch for me. Somebody who actually appears willing to fight at different weights without a hassle, and we want to pigeonhole him. Nah, some guys just gotta fly free.

    *bullshit mode off*

So, is this Wright fight happenin or what? It'd be nice...

Yep, and Paul ducked him so he can stop with that nobody wants to fight me crap. Clottey is the real guy nobody wants to fight.

There's always somebody willing to fight.

Dzinziruk also said he was willing to fight Williams...and come to the states to do it.

But don't tell that to Max Kellerman.

Yeah, but Clottey isn't just some somebody. He's a pretty respected name in the division who just so happens to have a title. Paul's little ignoring of him won't go unnoticed and excused away by me. It'd be different if Paul wasn't calling himself mister avoided.

I dunno. Clottey is no better placed than anyone else out there, IMO. You really overrate the guy.

I wasn't being dismissive of him.

All those who claim "nobody wants to fight him" just have to do some reading.

I agree with Tam's take on Williams. First people overrate him probably because now a days its all about being a human windmill so that HBO's punchstat numbers are good... and when you look like a pray mantis cum windmill then hey your unbeatable right?

I mean who needs skill when you have a big welter with reach and punches thrown galore Freud, Floyd, you name it they would be beaten by this stickbug of a man!

Truth is that Williams is no Tommy Hearns yet and has a lot to prove and the best way to start that process is to pick a division and clean it out.

I think he should start fighting the WBO champ at 154. Williams won the Interim belt so he might ass well fight the real champ.

The forrest fight makes more sense. I think Williams would beat the shit out of Forrest before stopping hime.

True that. I wouldn't be surprised if Rubio gave him a hard time for 6-7 rounds.

Illum I have to agree with Jaws.... where do you get the notion that Pavlik is a sure defeat?

I have not thought carefully about this fight but I don't see Pavlik with some sort of advantage that is obvious.

The obvious that jumps out at me would be power. Pavlik has a definite advantage there no doubt about it.

Advantage Power and Strenght....if Williams was a bit more discipline i could see him outbox Pavlik long enough to get a decision...but at one point in the fight he is going to brawl with Pavlik....and get brutalize from there on out...

    agREED...

Paul Williams LACKS Defense...He's Shown a GREAT Chin, but his Defense is SUBpar...Honestly, he's NOT Much Better than Margarito, N that Regard...REED has a HARD Time Envisioning a BAD Defensive Fighter BEATING Kelly Pavlik...

ESPECIALLY When that "Bad Defensive Fighter" is MOVING UP to Face Pavlik...

Are we forgetting about Pavlik's poor chin and defense?

Or did he all of a sudden become Marvin Hagler reincarnated.

i'd pick pavlik to win, but wouldn't be surprised at all if williams won.

i see no more surprises in boxing anymore when two world class guys go at it.
