If they both come out swinging the fans do It's a pick 'em two big hitters with shaky jaws... I think Morrison had more speed and raw talent, but I think Sanders actually had a slightly superior chin There is no sure pick in a fight like this
I think Sanders has clearly the better chin. Not that it would mean much here since Morrison has easily enough power to blast him out. Same goes with Sanders' sniper against Tommy's whiskers though. Morrison was the better fighter, but this is really a guessing game. Sanders left hand might find in sooner
Good match up. You could pretty much flip a coin but I'll go with Sanders purely because you usually have to expect a southpaw cross to land with greater frequency than a left hook will land on a lefty, at least in a fight where the orthodox fighter leads. Bringing the hook into the game as a consistent weapon usually involves making the lefty lead, and that's probably not the way this fight is gonna go. At least not in my mind. Plus Sanders had the faster hands, IMO and when in doubt always go with speed!
Exactly. Sanders had that terrifc Left hand and he could get on a roll when he came out blasting, but Morrison also was explosive that way as well
I don't know for sure if Sander's hands were faster, but I agree with everything else you said. Especially the left hook on a southpaw versus straight left on a right handed fighter. I always wonder why some people seem to think the Left hook is a great punch against a southpaw... it isn't and I have seldom seen a good southpaw lose because of an opponent's hook On the other hand, a straight left is lethal against a righty just as the right hand lead is so useful against the southpaw
Pretty much a pick 'em. Both could bang, had shaky chins and questionable stamina. I think nearly anything could happen... We could get a first round blow out by either fighter, a Foreman - Lyle type slugfest or even a fight in which both fighters go to war early and then are exhausted by the middle rounds and fight to a sloppy decision or late TKO. They are fairly evenly matched in power and handspeed. I think Morrison is the better fighter (but both Morrison and Sanders would be KOed by Dog Jones or Bum Beribck), but you never know when his chin would cost him, even in fights he won. If I had a gun to my head I think I would lean toward Morrison mostly 'cause I think he is likely to be the one with more in the tank if the fight goes past 5 rounds and the one more likely to recover and come back when hurt.
As always when looking at a matchup between an orthodox fighter and a southpaw, you need to look how the orthodox fighter has done against southpaws.(I don't know why people don't do this anymore!) Morrison sucked against southpaws. Yes I guess he won but they gave him fits! Joe Hipp looked alot better against Morrison than he was and Yuri Vaulin was outboxing Morrison the first half of their bout til getting stopped by a body punch. Vaulin a Russian fighter that also fought as a cruiserweight had no right even being in the ring with Morrison but was winning handedly. Morrison was 26-0 and the untested Vaulin was only 10-1.
yee yee yee yeee. I didn't do this because I hadn't seen those fights, but you make a rather splendid point.
Sanders stops him early 8 times out of 10. Sanders is quicker even though both are fast handed, but the key here is that Sanders awkward southpaw stance and straight left right down the pipe will land quicker and far more often than the conventional, orthodox Morrison will be able to on Sanders. Morrison's main chance at winning will be if Sanders comes in so pathetically out of shape that he can outlast him like Rahman did. But even than, I think with Morrision's chin Sanders could land enough to still take him out.
i think Sander's hands were definitely faster. also, he would've had a significant height advantage over Morrison (2+"). I think he knocks Morrison out.
