Looks like your homie is getting back in the ring. Best luck to him. McCullough is not a bad name to have on your resume. Rob McCullough likely to meet Marcus Hicks at WEC 38 by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Dec 02, 2008 at 4:47 pm ET Former WEC lightweight champion "Razor" Rob McCullough (16-5) will look to get back in the title picture when he meets Marcus Hicks (8-1) at "WEC 38: Varner vs. Cerrone." The Jan. 25 event features a headline bout between current champ Jamie Varner, who TKO'd McCullough in February to win the title, and Cerrone, who earned the title shot after scoring a unanimous-decision victory over McCullough in a top contender's bout in November at WEC 36. A source close to McCullough told MMAjunkie.com that the match-up was agreed upon over the weekend but that bout agreements have not been signed. :kidcool:
Is this Cat GOOD??:dunno:.... After he Beat Marcus, Varner Mentioned a RE w/Razor Rob, so it Surprised REED when Marcus Told him about this Matchup...A WIN Here Puts Marcus RIGHT BACK N the Mix, Huh???... REED:dunno:
Marcus Said he's Gonna Try to Incorporate More Boxing, Instead of ALWAYS Trying to Get the Fight on the Ground... How's Razor Rob's Stand Up???.... REED:dunno:
Razor can bang. His background is Muay Thai. The dude can pop. I am glad this one was on You Tube. Great shot. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/S5Iqz95AtlU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/S5Iqz95AtlU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I like Hicks. I don't think he'll ever be good enough to be considered 'world class', but he's got an entertaining style, and as we saw in his last fight, if you're gonna beat him, you gotta hit him with everything you got. TFK
Would your Opinion CHANGE if Marcus were to BEAT Razor Rob???...REED's Never Seen Razor Rob & Therefore CAN'T Rate Him, so it's an HONEST Question... REED:kidcool:
His stock would definitely rise. He seems a little small for 155 to me. Reed, do you know how much he has to cut to get to 155, and if fighting at 145 is an option for him? That seems to be WEC's marquee division, so maybe a drop in weight would do him good. TFK
Marcus Walks Around N the LOW 170's & he Doesn't Eat Crappy Foods, Drink or Smoke...Dude's Birthday was Last Week & he had ONE Piece of Cake...He's VERY Short (5'4 MAX), but Not a SMALL Guy, Per Se...THICKLY Muscled Arms & Legs...He's Got the Bodytype of a PRIME Dwight Braxton, Only SMALLER... Even though Marcus Lives Clean, It'd B HARD to Make 145 & B EFFECTIVE, Especially @ the Age of 33... REED:mj:
I agree with Z. I think this is a tough fight for Hicks. McCullough is a former Muy Thai world champion. Judging with the way that Hicks handled knees in his last fight, McCullough may give him problems. Hopefully Hicks learned from his last fight and stays out of the Muy Thai clinch, bringing the fight to the ground whenever possible, where he is most effective.
Ya'll R SCARING REED Now, Fellas...That Varner Beatdown was HARD to Watch...It was Up there w/Watching Roy Get WAXED by Tarver... REED::
Look at the bright side. If Hicks wins, it will be a pretty big win against a legit top tier former world champ.
Nice pics Reed! You guys seem pretty tight. Wouldn't it be something if he gets a huge breakthrough and you can walk him out someday?
That would B VERY Cool... Marcus Told REED that if he Ever Wins a Title, he'll Let REED Carry his Belt Out to the Ring for him...If he'd have Beaten Varner, REED Would B Carrying Out his Belt this Sunday... IN TEXAS!!!!.... REED:bangh:
Damn Reed. I was pullin for your boy, but the dude needs to let his hands go! I pedrsonally feel that he fucked up by trying too hard on that Guillotine that wasn't fully executed. I think he lost a lot of gas trying to pull that one off. Other than the guillotine attempt, he didn't really try to test Varner on the ground either. Oh well.
Hate to Say it, but Marcus Looked a Tad GUNSHY N the Last Round...REED Gave Marcus Round 1, Razor Rob DECISIVELY WON Round 2 & the 3rd Could've Went EITHER Way... Marcus WON the BOXING Side of it, but Razor Rob HURT him to the Body w/a LegKick & Marcus Seemed to B FAVORING that Side a Bit...Like REED Said, Marcus Won a Close 1st Round, Razor Rob CLEARLY Won the Second & NEITHER Guy Went Out of their Way to WIN the 3rd... REED:mj: ps. In Other News, Mike Brown can PUNCH!!!...The Power he Showed Against Faber Is GENUINE....
Hicks needs to be more aggressive IMO REED. He should have tried to get McCullough to the ground more. He obviously looked to be the stronger guy in there. He just got outworked.
When Hicks dropped Rob in the beginning of the 2nd, I thought he was close. He did spend alot of time on the choke, but it has won him some matches so I understand why he did. I think he probably could have pounded him out though. Its easy to be a grandstander and tell a fighter what he did wrong, but I thought it was a pretty good fight against a very crafty veteran. I don't think Hicks is done by no means. It just means more training and get back in it. I agree with you, I was kind of puzzled why he wouldn't let his hands go in the third, was it a conditioning issue, do you know REED? Disappointing he lost the 2nd though, he had the moment and couldn't capitolize.
agREED... He was Almost Tooooooooooooo AGGRESSIVE Against Varner, so it was Confusing to REED, to See Marcus Soooooo HESITANT...He was HOPING to Win Instead of GOING FOR the Win... On the Brightside, it's NOT Like Razor Rob DOMINATED Marcus or Looked All that Impressive Himself...Marcus Still has a Couple More Fights on his WEC Contract, so Hopefully he Makes the MOST of them.... REED:mj:
Marcus Told REED that he Felt the Knockdown & Attempted Guillotine WON him the 2nd Round...He Felt he had Rounds 1 & 2 in his BackPocket Already...So in the 3rd, Marcus was Basically SITTING on a Lead that he DIDN'T Have on the Scorecards::... He WASN'T Crying "Robbery" Or Anything Afterwards, but he Thought he EEKED out a Decision...REED Told him he SHOULDN'T have Left the Fight in the Judges Hands.... REED:mj:
