http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSTimCoamQU kid looks kinda promising in there - he also is a track and field star in his College and ran a 19.99s 200m So you know where the speed is coming from...
In 2007, Kurtiss made the finals and lost to an en fuego Omar Henry. At the time he was trained by Ann Wolfe. About 1/2 year later, he got into some trouble when he got involved in a Juneteenth altercation in Austin... He's gotten thru that now. He looked sharp in the 2009 final and outclassed his opponent. I'm not 100% certain but I do not think he's still with Wolfe. I was very glad to see he'd come back. I'm sure after nationals, we'll see him turn pro. I think he had an amazing 400m time too, before he became a full-time boxer. On a side note, Bay City's Terrance Woods, a 2008 TX GG titlist, had a previous career as a stellar T&F athlete. He won national titles in high jump and triple jump at Abeline Christian and took a bronze at the Pan Am Games. He's only 5'10 but high jumped 7' As far as the 2009 TX GG finals go, the standouts to watch are Errol Spence, Eric Fowler, and youngsters Rincon, Agha, Ybarra, & Sherman.. Hopefully Colvin shows consistency and can join that group..
