Marquez & Morales but no Barrera? No Olivares, Canto or Salvidar option? But anyway, if the question is 'greatest' I have to go with Julio with Olivares as a closeish second. If the question was 'best' I might have went with Salvador Sanchez though, who's by far my favourite mexican fighter ever..:kidcool:

I thought of those two I left out as well as Zamora and Raul 'Raton' Macias, but then most of the guys here haven't heard much of these older names and the reason I left Barrera out was because the way he was stopped in his prime by Junior Jones.

Why would you have Salvador Sanchez on the list but no MAB?

Barrera isn't the greates, so you can have him off the list. I think Chavez was the most accomplished, thus the greatest, plus his long reign as a champion. Salvador could've been RIP

Not including Barrera invalidates your thread.

Im embarrassed for you that you had to put Sr. at the end of Chavez's name to distinguish him from his seed

I agree, though Olivares was my personal favorite.

I think Lupe Pintor, Pipino Cuevas, and Alfonso Zamora deserve honorable mention as well.

Shouldn't a guy be well versed in the history of the sport to start polls like these??

    Chavez is clearly the answer

but the poll choices are absurd... how in god's name is Ruben Olivares not one of the choices??? he is AT WORST the third best Mexican fighter of all time...

panchy, stick to threads in TAA about shitty movies because you are embarassing yourself here

There is no one Mexican that is the top choice for everyone. Although Chavez is the more respected Champion from Mexico to this day. Not for being the most skilled but representing the tipical Mexican style at a high level.

No way would I put Finito Lopez. As skilled as he was he should have fought Carbajal and Chiquita Gonzales. How can you not fight two hall of famers in your era who fought a classic trilogy between them?

Lopez' legacy is very overrated simply for that 0 on his loss colum.
